Never thought it was in doubt, myself. And credit to whoever was responsible for scouting, recommending, signing, training and trusting him to play (some of which is specific to the Shaved Werewolf).

Meanwhile, over on Merseyside: "I'm nor'avin' tha', I'm nor'avin' tha'! Fooking Tottenham...he wourra signed ferrus for £10 million if dey 'adn't offered 'im more moanee...get yerrown fooking scouts Spurs! We wus robbed. I'm nor'avin' tha', I'm nor'avin' tha'!"

if it wasn't for sherwood then bentaleb would probably be looking at a championship loan this season. just shows how different things can be if you show some faith in a young player rather than just parroting "he's not ready".

Yep, I'd like to see Winks giving a chance this season as well as Pritchard.

He played in midfield with a centre back up against Sheiderlin and Carrick.

The way his head dropped is a bit of a concern however he is only twenty.

May have something to do with his contract, being abit more comfortable or now believing a bit of hype and getting complacent or he could quite simply be out of form.

His post season was excellent, he has looked sloppy all preseason. His decision making needs to improve. There are times where he could pass forward and carry on an attack but retains possesion with a simple pass, and there are times where hte simple pass is on but he goes for a riskier one which gets intercepted. Also after his misplaced pass today I actually stopped notice him as I think he stopped asking for the ball. I do think he lost his head or confidence after that.

Hopefully he will just take a bit of time out and come back in later. He will get better.

What's happened to him? He was poor against RM. Poor again today.

he's a young lad and might not be totally focused ATM give him time...........

Mason was excellent when came on IMHO, so Bentalab will need to sort himself out sharpish!

I'm not convinced by him. I'm also not sure what kind of midfielder he is. He's not defensive, and he's not attacking, I wouldn't say I've seen him truly be a box to box player either. So what is he? Another Dembele? Playing a square pass badly when you're the last midfielder is criminal at any level. It puts the other team right on top of your defenders who are on their heels. Im starting to think that it's not Mason who needs replacing, it's Bentaleb.

At the moment, I'd play a midfield three of Dier holding, with Mason and Caroll ahead of him. You could even drop Eriksen back in for Caroll. Two pacey wingers (Lamela/Townsend or Behrahino/Werner), Kane up top.

There is no doubt he cost us 3 points today and was hauled off unceremoniously by Poch.

Should bring him back down to earth.

He's simply not good enough to be a regular starter, not a very good defender, not good creatively, plays a lot of negative side and back passes that slow us down in attack, second game on the trot he's presented the opposition with a great goalscoring opportunity, we need to get better than both he and Mason if we have any serious ambition to grab a CL spot

Not good enough? WTF don't talk nonsense I was at the lane last season against Man city and he pulled the strings, got his head up and played some great passes, he had a bad game, the best players learn from there bad games not the good ones, give him a break for fuck same

He thinks he is a lot better than he actually is. The pass today was a disgrace and imo he should be dropped for the foreseeable

I do think he believes the hype and needs to get his work ethic back ASAP. He's young though, so hopefully will learn quickly and come back stronger.
