Crying shame we didn't win anything though.
We are winning the love, admiration and respect of our supporters, pundits, footballing fans across the world, sports fans, any intelligent sentient being...

For the classy way in which we are gaining success.

I don't think I've seen so many (deserved) winner ratings for a single post in my time here.

But when you apply that context it is staggering. Cannot believe we aren't winning the league with this form. And you know that next season, after Hazard has gone to Real, and Costa has gone to China, it'll all fall apart at Chelsea and Conte will be sacked by January.

Sorry to stray from the Spurs narrative, but god I hate that bunch of ****s.

Sad thing is, I just can't see us replicating this next season at Wembley or our first season at the new lane. Incredible achievement this year, such a shame that we end up getting pipped to the post by Chelsea.
I hear what you're saying but no one expected us to do this well this season. We were supposed to slip to 5th or 6th while the big boys got their acts together. I feel this is a team that is built upon defying expectations and hopefully this continues.

Will be really interesting next season with the established top 6 all having to navigate European football. Over the last two seasons we've shown we can compete with that pretty well. Chelsea have benefitted massively this year in having a much clearer schedule.

I would be massively confident for next year and then I think of Wembley ffs

We were poor against Leverkusen, and surprised by Monaco, but otherwise our games there over the past few years haven't been that bad.

True - in fairness we played well against Chelsea.

I want us to go through this group stage in CL then draw a Barca and out.

For me it's domestic trophies I want above all else.

Jamie Carragher was really singing our praises last night on MNF. Said we are the best club in the premier, the one he most likes watching tactically and football...y and have been incredibly unlucky to have been duking it out two years running with sides who've not had European football. That it would certainly have meant Conte having to rotate, almost certainly losing key players at key times (like we have) and I completely agree.

Look at ManU, ManC and Arsenal. European football, all below us but some margin. Closest two teams to us, Liverpool/Chelsea, no European football.

Massive what we've achieved this year under those circumstances.

Agree, and why I think we're well set for next year with all of the top 6 looking like they'll have European football.

That draw away at Sunderland was so disappointing in this run as on paper and form should have despatch them away at ease

Not so long ago, we finished a season with the highest ever points total of a team not to finish in the top 4. Although it hasn't been plain sailing we have progressed from there. If we are now to be the (joint) highest point scoring team not to win the league it tells me a couple of things.

Only Spurs (jointly) could manage a statistic like that - we really have to work for it! We might not want to be Spursy anymore, but the Spursy doesn't want to leave us!

If we can carry on with our upward trajectory, we will surely win the league in the next few years.

I know it's far from guaranteed and we've had 'near miss' periods before then eventually we've fallen back a little. But we're doing all we can and it's not like we've assembled a team of expensive has-beens giving it one last shot at glory.

Last season, at the time, I thought it was our one real chance. This year I am now convinced we're actually somewhere early on in a period of Tottenham strength and the next 2 or 3 years will absolutely define this football club (for better or worse) for the next 2 decades.

I am convinced (although the pundits will take longer to come around to the idea it isn't a fluke) that this team is the very best side not to win the Premier League over the course of one or two seasons (unless Chelsea do slip) and that both stats and watching us play backs that up. So many champions have been and gone with sub par teams which have done a particular thing very well (Chelsea early Mourinho were super defensive, Leicester last season with their hit and make Vardy run + Mahrez magic, formula etc.) but we are genuinely very good at most things and if we can keep this group (staff and players) together runs like the one we have seen this season will become more normal and we will be seen as one of the truly great sides to be put together, in the vein of the Fergie/United teams of the 90s.

Apart from a shit load of games you mean?
Look, it's been a fantastic season, surpassed my expectations but I don't want us to be remembered as the best team never to win anything and Iam very sure if you asked Poch or the players they wouldn't like to finish their spell with us not winning anything.
