I don't think anyone can be annoyed that he prefers Juve if that's what he wants. The issue is why have we dragged this on into mid August with seemingly little understanding or fallback option. Surprising given people have been saying all summer he's going to Juve.

I hope we do have those fallback options locked in, and that they are of the right quality. It just seems like we don't know what we're doing with much of our transfer dealings. Don't forget we've lost key personnel on this front, presumably for good reason.
Very true fans are getting restless because we just don't seem to be close on anything other than the start of the season.
Really haven't left ourselves much time to do many deals I can see perhaps one come in and that's it.

It's a sad state of affairs when the majority of footballers would prefer to join a dead cert championship winning team in a 2nd rate league (albeit Juve are a very good team), instead of joining an up and coming, ambitious, exciting, title challenging team, led by one of the games best head coaches, in an elite league.

93.4 times out of 100 they always opt for for easy street and the extra dollar.

I swear to god if I was a pro footballer at this level, the project, and opportunity to make a name for myself would appeal to me more as opposed to earning 100k instead of 70k, and mindlessly hoovering up trophies in an already trophy winning team.
Where do you even begin with this tripe..... For one his potential wage at Juve would be lower that what we would offer. More importantly he would be joining a genuine European giant, the biggest club in Italy & a club who have reached 2 out of the last 3 CL finals. No shame at all losing a player to them ffs....

Absolute disaster so far, went to work and looked like we were getting Balde, home from work and its off... we got rid of our whole coaching set up and said we had learnt, would love to know where we have learnt.... we look like we are a mess in this area and I wonder how long before Poch walks.

Very depressing ITK this summer and no sign of it getting any better

I mean, JJ did say it was close but not done for a reason - probably because Juve coming in was very possible. Your fault if you thought 'we were getting' him and are now disappointed.

I agree, it feels like we target these unattainable players who are on the cusp of becoming amazing players; then when things fall through for them, rather than targeting high potential players like we used to (Bale/Modric/Berbs/Eriksen/Lamela) etc we target the players that your stokes, Everton and west broms are fighting over. Then say that the chief player was unobtainable so we had to get a last minute stop gap. Very poor tactics on our part.

We let this drag on into mid August, I would estimate, becuase we were determined to get him and didn't want to sign anyone 'further down the list', who would take up the squad place, funds and wages that we'd have wanted to give to him.

Also, less than a day on from this happening, there is literally no evidence of not having a fallback option. There won't be any such evidence until the transfer window closes with us having not signed similar to this guy. Nothing to slit our wrists about here.

I may be wrong (I often am) but I don't think we've had it confirmed exactly why it's "off" as far as we're concerned. Until Juve actually announce it's done, there's always a small chance that we'll revise our offer and give Balde and his agent something else to think about. Or is that ridiculously optimistic?

There's no way Skybet would have Balde to Juvenus at odds of 11/8 with max stake £250,000 if he had signed.

They have odds makers using vasts amount of data, media, forums and insider (itk) info. They know a lot more than anyone on this forum. He would be long odds on if the deal was as 'done' as some are making out.

I think you can tell by my second paragraph that I'm not slitting my wrists! I also think it's fair to say that things have not gone well and the turnover of staff in the area of transfers is telling, even more so now.

I don't think we have to be at polar ends on this. We can be both frustrated and circumspect.

Oh I wasn't accusing you of wrist slitting/ of not being measured in your take of it, was just building on the overall post and using it as a vehicle to state my thoughts on the situation and on several people's reactions, though not particularly yours.

I just rather give a reply to you, who is keeping relatively composed, than one of the ragers.

Nevermind Juve, we cant even compete with Fulham for Sessegnon, Monarco for Lemar, and some other arseholes for RP

It appears we cannot compete with anyone for any of our targets, 4 targets so far and none signed, but dont worry we have Grey as a back up.

It is simple-Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance, our club does not subscribe to this theory nor does it agree with the business philosophy of - You have to speculate to accumulate, accumulate as in win a trophy where a football club is concerned, two years in a row we nearly won the biggest prize going and two years in a row we have not built on the back of it.

Totally disagree, we have been investing for years and now the club is seeing dividends on the pitch. How you can argue that we didn't build in the last season, finishing our highest points total and position in the prem? We can only judge whether we've built as a team this year in May, not before a ball's been kicked and when the transer window isnt even shut.

Yes I hear you mate most of us are frustrated at the lack of activity so far, but it's best to wait until after the window ends to judge.
If fuck all is done or the signings totally inadequate then yes feel free to vent which would then have some justification, we have around two and half weeks to get some shit done so let the club do or not do it's business first.
Trust me I want to see 3/4 come in but I can't see it personally And I'm normally someone who is quite vocal on here regarding things like this, but on this occasion I'm hoping that our chairman backs the best thing that has happened to him for a long time poch so relax :)

What additions have we made to strengthen our squad since we finished second last season ? The new season starts for us this Sunday not when the transfer window closes. Did we make any additions in the last two January windows to push us on to win something? Is our squad not weaker since selling Walker and not replacing him ?

Ok- Coutinho probably won't be going to Barca. He's worth more to Liverpool at the moment. I think Dybala will go for, by Calcio standards, silly money. Juve buy Balde and a couple of others with the proceeds. I reckon this deal collapsed last night because Liverpool made it abundantly clear they wouldn't sell and Dybala currently is a better option than Dembele for the same sort of money. In other words, the Neymar deal fucked us over. Though I can't prove it

Dybala wont leave this summer. They've just given him the number 10 shirt which is a big deal but not only give it to him made a big deal about it

Rumors are that it will be confirmed to Juventus not too long after the Supercoppa on Sunday (Juve v Lazio).

And yet with Bet Victor, we are now favourites to sign him at 5/4. Juve have drifted since yesterday to 6/4 ...

Just sayin'
