I was at the game today and still not convinced. Scored a goal but his end product is seriously lacking. I just don't think he can get to the level we need him at I'm afraid.

He is young... If Poch sees that he can mold him in to a player who can perform and be realisable... Then his future is pretty bright.

Reading between the lines of his comments... I think Poch is saying he has stepped up his training and doing stuff to improve his physical form. I remember reading Kane took the effort to drop his body fat percentage and change his diet and it really made him a much better player, GKN might be doing the same thing.

It's great to do good on the pitch. But the stuff that's done off the pitch is usually what wins u games.

I will give him one positive over what I have seen previously. He put in more of an effort while pressing and genuinely seemed into the game.

That being said, he didn’t blow me away and I think some are just hoping for something to come of the player, thus the optimism. Sort of like the “sissoko didn’t play like shit, thus he was good.”

His attacking is still pretty weak IMO. He does far too much strafe dribbling and not enough straight line attacking.

In comparison...he makes Son look like Ronaldo, the Portuguese one.

I, like yourselves, hope he can help out, but I don’t see much in him and would much rather give Marcus the minutes even if his attitude isn’t correct. I know that goes against Poch’s MO, but we are throwing pennies in the wishing well with this one.

Prove me wrong though Kevin.

His work rate last night certainly didn’t go unnoticed, however there wasn’t a huge amount of quality to go with it.

I’d say yes slightly lacking in the goods but came alive when he was more central. Moved the ball well, kept us incisive when he could. A lot of safe play from a lot around him.

I thought he had started to progress. A lot better if not 1st team stuff.

I think you have to remember that was his first start of the season. When Kane and Alli came back from injury neither looked sharp. Give him a few games and some confidence and then make a firm decision.

Is he likely to get a few games though?

We'll find out soon enough. If he impacts games when he get's chances by scoring I'm sure we'll see more of him. If Poch isn't happy with him then we won't.

He was alright last night but I would t go any further than that, tbh. There were 6 or so players that were performing better but he applied himself well. Hopefully he continues to kick on

Let’s be honest we are all hoping he may be our Salah/mane. But that looks highly unlikely to me. We took a punt it looks unlikely he will be the one. No disaster can get our money back more or less. For me ultimately he is blocking Edwards pathway who will be at least twice the player Nkoudou is. Basically we are 3 players short of being a very very good squad and serious contenders on all fronts. This position and a new dembele are the 2 vital positions imo. But can we really wait and hope for another 6 months or year. Considering it’s such few positions we need to fill. I say just go buy the quality. With off loading some dead wood Janssen Nkoudou etc. A net spend of £40m would probably get us everything we need.

Hmm, I thought he just turned in his best performance for us last night. Even Poch is optimistic...

You could see how much confidence the goal gave him. I wasn't too impressed before his goal, but looked better afterwards, albeit only 10 mins or so

Surprised by how harsh people are on him

He beat his man a few times, put in some good crosses, scored a goal on the back of some great skill and worked fucking hard

What more did people expect from his first start of the season?

Think he needs a few more games before he can be judged as needs to find his rhythm (and also be playing within our first choice team).

Hopefully he’ll push on from this and continue to impress Poch in training and get more chances in our match day 18.

He needs to play regularly so I don't see anything other than a loan for him in January to the championship to see how he gets on.

Exactly.

First start for ages. Showed aggression, strong work ethic, looked a little quicker and, most importantly for me, wanted the ball and wanted to impact the game. A few minutes before he scored there was a passage of fairly low-urgency possession from us and he covered significant distance to try and get on the ball, and when he did he immediately looked to 'up the ante'. Even if his goal was a bit lucky, he wanted the ball in the last thirdl, took on his man, made space and got a shot off. He has never shown that aggression / proactive play up until now.

A solid 7/10 display and if he shows this application and gains confidence then he will put pressure on our AMs for a place in the 18.

How ever good a coach Pochettino maybe, even he will struggle to improve a player who demonstrates no intelligence or signs of having 2 or 3 brain cells.
