I can't stand all this moping negativity. Mourinho came in halfway through what was becoming an absolutely shite season, we're now within touching distance of CL football next season, the squad is absolutely on its knees with injuries to absolutely vital players which severely limits our options in the ways we can set up. We only lost 1 nil today when it should've been worse, we overcame greater odds in the semi final last year. If we don't progress then we have to knuckle down in the league and make sure we get back in again next season.

People writing Mourinho off before he's even had a proper transfer window and preseason are the sort who touch themselves while looking for things to moan about.

their midfield just worked harder and won every ball back. Every time a spurs player had the ball in the first 60 mins there was 2 to 3 Leipzig players around them

So basically once we realised that Janssen was not good enough, you’d have thought we’d have invested in a second striker to alleviate pressure away from Kane, give us alternate formation options and enable us to future proof against Kane’s annual mid season physical collapse.

That would have been two years ago when we figured Vinny just wasn’t good enough. And here we are, in 2020, scrapping for fourth place in the league, on the verge of being dumped out the Champions League, with both Kane and Son long term injured. And we still don’t have another striker. It’s remarkable sometimes how incompetent people get so high in multi million pound organisations like football clubs

Could be because Leipzig is a well-run club who plays in a country where the football league system isn't as deep and competitive as England's. Since 10/11 Leipzig has paid out approx. £286m in transfer fees whereas since 17/18 Everton have spent approx. £380m and since 16/17 we've spent approx. £318m. Leicester, West Ham, Newcastle, Watford, and Palace have record signings who cost them more than Leipzig's record. Leipzig might be rich by Bundesliga standards but they aren't compared to a lot of Premier League teams. The main difference is Leipzig is smart enough to buy Timo Werner for £13m while Newcastle is pissing £39m up the wall for Joelinton.
Well run but also managed and owned by a massive multinational company.

If I’m honest and being pragmatic, we go out of the CL either this round or next so hard to get excited.

What we need is to do is go for the FA Cup and get 4/5th so for me this game/
competition needs to be dropped to give us the best chance in those. That is what is best for the club so that’s what I want.

No, the fans want it all - The Dutch playing Total Football while winning all the pots at the same time with this squad in this state.
Nope. I want a bit more ambition than just playing long balls and hoping the ball runs favourably. Not total football nor tiki taka, just thought out positive football.

What the hell is this? How could this sort of message in any way be the one you want to portray towards your players? Especially in this part of the season?

We're currently playing with 4 defenders and essentially 6 creative midfielders/playmakers.

I don't think anyone out there played badly tonight. But until we have a proper midfield and our strikers back, expect more relatively ineffective competence.

All the itk when he joined saying that during his time off he has developed a new approach.

We are booting it long to Alli and Lucas and hoping for the best. We actually have some good midfielders, why not try and play to their strengths?
Well pinch of salt and all that then ;) as doesn’t look anything new at all to me mate

I'm not convinced investment will do it and I'm becoming less convinced by JM with each passing game now. I don't see anything that suggests any hope for the future under JM, investment or not!!! If I were Levy, I'd pay Mourinho off at the end of the season and go for someone like Nagelsmann.
I don’t think it’s just JM or the next big thing we may or may not be able to land. I think there’s some serious dysfunction at the recruitment/ footballing management aspect of the club that goes beyond the possible shortcomings of any manager

I just don't understand that no matter who we play from Norwich, Southampton to M/City or whoever, that team will have us running around for 45 minutes playing like headless chickens barely able to put 2 passes together. Its doing my head in match after match. Soon as we start playing and taking the match to the other team like tonight then the opposition weren't as good as we thought.

Ambition is winning shit, we're not winning the Champions league with the current state of this squad. Better luck Saturday.

It’s due to Jose’s tactics he basically skips out the middle part of the pitch, it’s a hard watch but can be effective.
But surely as entertainment, a hard watch is something to be avoided in football? It's not like we have steam of cloggers who can't play positive attractive football. Just a manager who prefers not to.
