If we need a totally washed "winner", I'd rather we go for brazilian Ronaldo. He'll at least bring some feelgood factor of good memories attached to him.

Costa and Mourinho never had an issue. They have a good relationship by all accounts. It was Conte that Costa had a big falling out with.

Also worth noting that Costa’s agent is Jorge Mendes so wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he’s been offered.

"My relationship with Mourinho... I say this to everyone, 'every person has a good and a bad side'. But Mourinho and I had a good relationship. He always joked with us, gave us plenty of freedom, he talked with us... He was someone who also listened a lot."

"There were a lot of good things. So when I look back, there were a few moments that I made mistakes; plays which I shouldn't have made given all the love and respect he gave to me"

"Thus, I have nothing against him. If there is someone who should have something against someone is Mourinho himself [towards me]. And I believe he doesn't have that. I had a good rapport with him."

He is hardly known for having good discipline, and there were videos of him messing around in Chelsea training being a contemptuous child, so he is basically (at the least) acknowledging that but saying that doesn't believe Mourinho holds it against him - the only man that knows that is JM himself, but if he's learnt anything from his time at Chelsea and United it should be that this type of player will cause him problems.

A Madrid paid £58m for Costa 2 years ago and he’s scored all of 10 goals in over 50 appearances.... that’s absolutely pathetic.

Suarez may also be a twat but he still has a very good return. He scored more last season than Costa has in the last 2 years.

Just seems born out of the link between Mendes and Mourinho, probably a favour, places him in a window for all to see.

I want this to happen just to see Costa wind up random Latvian defenders in the Europa League. We'll be box office :woot:

I'm a huge fan of Diego Costa, couldn't help but be impressed during the league cup final when he single-handedly rattled our entire defence. He sometimes took it over the line at times in matches but for me he was excellent at just getting under the defenders skin without cheating.

Will never understand how our fans think we’re gonna get a top notch striker to sit the bench and play Europa and cup matches behind Kane. An over the hill or a young up and comer is the only solution. Giroud is really the only exception no team has a stud backup striker. And he’s basically taken over the starting role at Chelsea

The problem of Costa is not whether he still can score goals. The question is whether he still can do hold-up plays.

2 years ago he was an arsehole who could still play football and score goals. Now he's an arsehole who can't do either.

I kind of like the idea, but suspect he’s probably finished at the top level.

Can’t see it at all tbh.

Didn’t he give Gomez & VVD a horrible time when they played Liverpool in the CL neither of them wanted to go anywhere near him after the first 20 minutes ?

No thank you, Suarez yes. Both pricks but one is a goalscoring prick at least.

Think Costa would just get us more red cards with VAR than goals.

Think he could have similar impact as Llorente but wouldn't score many goals.

who is this attainable world beater u think is gonna come here to play backup striker? serious question

Llorente did a job. He missed some sitters sure but he banged in a few and was great in hold up play. Guy doesn’t get a fair shake around here
