Apparently it’s Edouard we are after which is great, but why not go for Daka as well with a loan back for a year

Sigh.

Would have been fantastic to land on a fast AND powerful striker like Daka.. he just need another good year.. then just watch the bidding war and his price to go beyond our reach.

With recent ITK on Edouard could we have a new thread about him? He seems to fit the profile - 22 years old, 6ft2 and has scored a bucket load in the past two years. 40 goals in 62 appearances since signing for Celtic permanently. 13 goals in just 8 apps for France U21.

I don't see how we could be being kept off of the radar if it were to be Edouard. There's been links in the media to Palace, Villa and Brighton. Someone would have picked up on it. Celtic are a big club that attract a lot of media interest.

I hope I'm wrong.

Maybe it was Edouard this whole time?

Daka = Patson Daka
Rob Patson (Pattison) was in Twilight as... Edward.

Edward...Edouard...

(joking, of course, but thought it was a funny cryptic link)

But Pattinson is now The Batman... so Michy BATshuayi... NO, STOP IT!

Well Palace have just got Batshuayi, Villa have got Watkins. Perhaps the reason they’ve gone elsewhere could be down to us joining in?

If that were the case someone from Palace or Villa would probably have let it slip. 'We tried for Edouard but he wants Spurs'. Plus the Edouard to Villa link came from John Percy yesterday, after Watkins signed.

Gutting about Daka, but if he wants to stay another season to develop then that's fair enough.

Just hope this mystery striker is promising. Some I can think of:

Rafael Leao - Looks to have a very high ceiling but has played as a winger at Milan due to Ibra returning. Most likely due to the links to Mendes and Sacramento, plus Milan's interest in Aurier. Loan swap with obligations might suit both clubs?

Moussa Dembele - Long time favourite of ours, still only 24 and Lyon seem to be needing to sell players after covid and with no CL. No strong media links with him to anyone.

Odsonne Edouard - Exciting young player being linked with Palace and Villa. Problem is I believe that PSG have a big sell on %.

Donyell Malen - Promising young ST from PSV. Former Arsenal youth player so knows London.

I'm not sure the likes of Milik, Costa and Giroud fit the criteria of young or under the radar.

If it's Edouard we might try to get round the sell on clause by doing what we did with Lo Celso - pay a big loan fee with a smaller purchase price agreed in the contract.

Lol PSG must hate Levy if he does that to them again!

I do actually believe he'd rather stay in Austria for another season, score about 40 goals and make a massive move next year.

Not sure myself, when you look at our facilities and chance to play in London in the premier league I think most players playing there would jump at the chance.

I bet that would not be set in stone if an actual offer materialised. Easy to say when clubs are just letting you know they are on your shortlist.

That said staying does seem to be a smart move the way things are going for him.
