I am weirdly optimistic about next season now, fair play to the team. Today showed when the pressure is off somewhat we can play really good football.

Vrady is a cheating toe rag and doesn’t deserve CL football.

Honestly, I don't think it would have functionally changed much. We needed to win all our games to finish in CL positions.

In the form table we were 4th, ok not the hardest run, but it was pretty much what you would expect. The idea of hiring a manager who has been out of football for a long time and, frankly, whose methods are completely outdated now, is a fanciful illusion.
Over a manager who has never managed a Prem team before.....just before a cup final. This is Levy not willing to pay extra for a a manager. We were in a similar position to Liverpool when Jose went... they finished 3rd

Mason should never have been the job, so its not his fault that he's been found wanting, in that respect. However, given his selections and all round demeanour on the touchline, I haven't seen anything that makes me think he should be doing anything other than coaching our under 16 side at the moment.

It’s really not. He picked the players. He left out some very good players for his mates. He left bale and ndombele out of the cup final. He played Winks every game... that says it all. He played Dier over Rondon. What’s his age got to do with common fucking sense?
Honestly, we would have been beaten to a pulp if we started Bale and Ndombele, completely the wrong strat against Man City. We'd be so open.

What you are saying isn't common sense, it's just misguided fan logic.

Irrelevant. Liverpool went on a crazy run. That was never going to happen to us, whoever was in charge.

Well it would have been a bit more better to watch than getting rolled over... but hey ho season done. Let’s hope we never see Winks again in a spurs shirt...or Mason near the dressing room

In all honesty, sacking a manager right before a cup final was a bizarre decision. But I don't think we would have won against Man city regardless of who was in charge tbh.

Liverpool are the form team of the league since Mason was in charge. It's a false comparison. Again, we'd have had to win every game to finish on level points with them. Considering that we haven't been able to win six in a row all season it's not exactly a surprise.

The foul he made and yellow card he received on the breakaway might have kept the teams level. He took one for the team as the saying goes.
To be fair he gave the ball away to set them away, so he was only atoning for his own mistake.

Why did he have to make the foul though...because he kicked the ball straight at the Leicester player lol. Where was his composure. Ndombele plays or passes out of that situation.

I was no fan of this Europa Conference League but we're in so we might as well win it. Look at it another way, whatever you think of it Arsenal weren't even good enough to qualify for it.

We just beat Leicester again last game. Fa cup winners. With most of us slamming the team selection. We need a manager that can sort us out ffs. If Kane moves then he moves. Relied on way too much over the years.

We would have been rolled over. The problem about city is how they essentially swarm into space, if you have players unable to pick up their opposite number then you're asking for real trouble.

Winks probably isn't the right player moving forward, but the reality is if you want someone to balance the team out it's really between him or Sissoko, Ndombele and Lo Celso are talented players but offer something completely different and in the case of the former he hasn't really earnt the trust to disciplined in that system.

Mason started Ndombele, not Winks in his first game against Southampton. But Ndombele, unfortunately, wasn't covering the necessary ground and left us exposed and overloaded time and time again. When Winks came on we gained control of that game. Not because Winks is this amazing player, but because he is more disciplined.

You can disagree with the decision, I certainly think that Lo Celso - Hojberg midfield is our best paring, but there is a clear logic to it. Football isn't about playing the most talented players it's finding the right balance and using the right mix of players to create that balance. Tom Cleverly and Danny Welbeck started quite regularly for a League winning side, let's not forget, bang average players, but that season they created the right balance for the team.
