Overall very good -just need to stop the unforced eras and then the world will be ours.

The Brighton boss is delusional, spurs were deserved winners, they didnt do enough in there backyard to get anything.

am only one think sess wasnt great, gave ball away sloppy for chance and was offside a lot
He got caught offside a couple of times and can work on that, but he was excellent second half in defence, and led a couple of counters as well. Much improved I thought

One slight worry was the amount of times Brighton would make one pass and have a complete run at our defence, at certain times the 3 in midfield we’re all seemingly in the same line

The vagaries of the match thread. I personally thought that was his worst game for us by quite a distance tonight. Physically looked way off it and trundled about doing daft stuff frequently.

A big problem after the opening to the game was that him and PEH looked knackered, plus Bissouma neutered by the booking meant the midfield collapsed. But Hojbjerg if nothing else does dig deep and find some extra gas in the tank often in situations like that to his credit, he shows some bollocks and leadership to find that extra few percent and get to the final whistle.

Yeah agree. I'm his biggest fan but he looked exhausted and was really struggling. Thought he should've come off for Skippy much earlier.

That's because xG is a bollocks stat that is essentially based on someone's opinion.
Not true. xG is very valuable particularly when considered over an extended period. It’s a better predictor of the future than previous results. But in terms of the xG for today’s game it obviously doesn’t reflect the amount of times we had great attacking moments but a poor final ball stopped us from creating a big chance to shoot and score.

But there’s also factors where it’s not as reliable on judging a game

Thought we were really good tbh.
Not really poor. Not great either obviously.
I have to say that our passing at times is absolutely shocking. I reckon they should practice it a bit more. Also there were times when we just didn’t have any ideas what to do when we had the ball in their half again.
The players just aren’t very good for the most part.

Think xG is useful if you use it as a general indicator and take it with a pinch of salt.

This was a tight game so no surprise the xG is tight. One thing I do find xG is rubbish at is modelling 'potentially big' opportunities. Like if a player is 1 on 1 with the keeper and takes a heavy touch so there's no "shot" it won't count as anything. Or if a player misses a header by inches and there's no contact.

Today for example, Doherty had a fantastic chance to square it to Sess - one of the biggest chances for a clear cut opportunity in the match by far - but he takes an extra touch so it counts for nothing on xG. When in reality if you play that opportinity out 5 times we probably score 1 or 2 in 5, whereas a shot from the edge of the box is more like 1 in 30.

Wait, what?

It's not lack of ideas. It's playing how Conte wants us to play. If you start going off script you won't play.

Actually not sure the 3-5-2 worked that well beyond the first 30 minutes. We lacked the energy required from RWB, Central midfield and the front 2 to make it work from that point in the match.

I preferred the Spurs that played vs Frankfurt. We looked tired today, one of those games with the week they've had when you just have to get the job done in any way possible.

There will be better days and performances ahead.
