A balance undoubtedly needs to be struck and the real issue for me is up top and the fitness of Richarlison and Kulusevski coupled with not looking to flog Harry to death.

You can either look on us starting slow once again and making the necessary adjustments later on to change the game in our favour or we put out a strong XI from the get go and manage players fitness levels as the second half progresses.

I'd be looking at going with;

Forster

Dier Lenglet Davies

Spence Hojbjerg Bissouma Skipp Sessegnon

Kane Moura

Kulusevski to come on for one of Skipp or Hojbjerg to go 343 and depending on the score, either Kane or Moura off for Richarlison.

Stellini has essentially said Spence is not starting - may or may not be involved.

(unless its a 4th level Chess move...)

I might have misinterpreted what he said, but in a round about way he said Spence is ready, but not to expect us to play a complete team of youths.

I think, in the context of his overall message, that Spurs are playing to win this game, and will put out a team with that in mind - they are happy with the work Spence is putting in - but he is not ready.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest seeing Doherty start you’re right but it just seems an obvious start in the circumstances against his former side.

Failing him starting then I’m sure we are already well underway in securing a loan move for him January.

Really hope we don’t see Kane Hojbjerg or Bentancur in the side
Needs to be a game for the likes of spence, Sanchez, Tanganga, Skipp, Sarr, Bryan and Lucas
Possibly kulusevski to play too

Forster
Tanganga Sanchez Davies
Spence Sarr Skipp white sessegnon
Lucas Bryan

maybe give Devine a chance too

Then kiss goodbye to a win.
I mean, you’re probably right.
But exactly when do you give these players a chance?
Skipp should be competitive, as should Bryan
Sarr is highly rated enough to be in the squad,.
harvey white has been given game time in early rounds in seasons before
Tanganga has been useful at times.

We’d sell most of these players to teams of the level forest are at. So ergo these players should be able to hold their own against the players they’d likely (hypothetically)replace.

And of course, the loss you’re predicting would at least highlight the need to upgrade the squad in January

What the absolute hell. I was convinced for some reason we were on tonight and thought the forum was a bit lax not having a match thread up. ?

Would be good to put Dier back in the center of the 3.

Was hoping Kulusevski could have started with Richarlison replacing him during the 2nd half.

Forster

Dier / Tanganga Lenglet Davies
Doherty Skipp Bissouma Sarr Sessegnon
Kane Gil/Lucas

We need some height up front so will have to play Kane. I would prefer not to have to play Dier but the defense needs some playing time together.
I will be truly staggered if Kane plays any part

Sadly, IMO this cup can't be a high priority this season. With the potential fixture congestion this cup will cause in Jan (adding a further 3 games if we get through - making it 8 for Jan), I couldn't care less if we lose.

Forster
Tanganga Sanchez Davies
Spence Sarr Bissouma Skipp Doherty
Lucas Gil

A lot of people on here assuming Forest are going to be full strength.
Forster must be a definite and I'd go Spence and Sessignon as WB's with Sanchez Dier and Lenglet.
Also think with Kulusevski back we'll go 343 against Leeds on Saturday so Bisouma and Skipp for this one.
Moura, Gil and obviously Kane as we don't have another striker.

I think there are good reasons to prioritize this game in particular.

First, if we get through, the 4th round will be played before we return to league games. A lot of our players will have been without competitive games for 4-6 weeks. A Cup game is a great way to get competitive minutes back into the legs before the league starts up again.

Second, we have to make the mentality of the squad about winning, no matter the competition. We only get so many opportunities to win something and we can’t be throwing away chances because it’s hard. Teams that win, expect to win, and play to win.
