6000 of them wasted their time and money to watch a team who don’t want to win a trophy as much as they do just go through the motions.
Who sets them that example? Who else at the club is going through the motions when it comes to actually winning?

Most fans would take top 4 over a cup. Maybe I’m getting old but I just don’t get it anymore. 16 years now since last won something. 2 league cups in my lifetime, fa cup in 91 I was a toddler. And fans want some CL games before we get knocked out by a Bayern or a Madrid. What’s the point really. Fans should be absolutely desperate for us to win the Fa cup but I just don’t feel it, every predicted lineup half the fans are suggesting keeping half the team fresh for the league. How the fuck can anyone not see how unbelievably important it is for this football club to win something? We are never gonna get anywhere unless we start getting that mentality, we’ll just keep bottling and bottling it.
Wish I could give this hundreds of winners tags. This is half the problem with the club. Half the fans think getting in the top 4 is more important than winning trophies.
“The game is about Glory” someone famous said. There is no glory in qualifying for the CL only money and more cobwebs in the trophy cabinet.

And I disagree with you here. We have a number of really big games coming up, look at some of our “B” team.., 60 mil Richarlison, 45 mil Porro, 40 mil Sanchez, PL top goal scorer Son etc. We are a pl team with a deep squad. We should be coached so to a degree we’re any player can step in when needed. Would you rather play your A team and suffer exhaustion come Saturday in the league and let alone next Wednesday in the PL?

There is zero point in having a large squad if you can’t rely on them. Say if Romero or Kane got injured then we would be relying on them to play. This is a different situation than playing a bunch of kids, then yes I would agree with you. Or if we didn’t have two more important games in the space of a week. It’s easy to forget we also had a World Cup not long ago and fatigue is going to be serious issues come the end of the season.

Ultimately the players we brought in are not young inexperienced kids, they are multi million pound signings who should be relied upon to play better and certainly to a degree that would win a game like that. And really, tactically we didn’t play that different than we do normally the only real difference is Kane and Romero weren’t on the pitch.
In reference to the bold parts: This is why we never win anything. This was the most important game because this was the only competition we had a realistic chance of winning. If we lose at the weekend there still 12 games left to play to fight for 4th. If we beat Milan do you think we’re going to win the CL. Almost certainly not just means a couple more money spinning games. We’re a football club! Winning trophies should be our main goal not earning more money.

Is anyone remotely surprised with this result? Commentators/Press etc will say it’s a shock but really…is it?! We have had some quality players and managers over the past couple of decades yet we still lack the courage and fight to become winners! Something is seriously wrong within this club, from top to bottom we are mentally soft.
If Kane stays or goes does it really matter…apart from Shearers record what can he achieve with us? What can we achieve with him? We have had/got him in his prime yet we still get served up with this shit.
We are in the Premier league to make up the numbers and the best we can hope for is for a team that can play good football…we ain’t going to win anything so the least we can be is entertaining.
I feel your pain!

joke to think we can rotate, our squad is horrific except for a few good players
The point about rotating players is that you rotate one or two at a time to rest players and give others minutes. When you rotate 6 or more players in you just end up with a team of strangers who won’t be able to get any rhythm going.

Genuine question I’m sitting asking myself.
When you’re managing people (humans) who get tired, have emotions etc…would you rather have won tonight, won Saturday but lost to Milan cos the same players were being flogged
OR
do what happened tongiht…gamble on losing against a lower league team in fa cuP
OR
Rest players for Saturday and risk losin top 4 next season.

whilst I’m pissed off it’s too easy to say “pick Kane and Romero or else…”. Well what if that bites us down the line.

Sure every club in the land would love to avoid a drop off when they rest 1st teamers…but given the tools Conte had to work with tonight….did he make the right decisions or wrong decisions?

without applying hindsight…
Wrong decision. You always play your best team especially in a must win game. You have to take each game as it comes and treat it as the most important game. After it’s over you focus on the next game.
Picking a”weakened” side tonight and losing undermined the positivity of Sunday’s win. The effects of losing tonight may affect how we play at the weekend which we may lose because of that and then that defeat will have an effect on the Milan game. That’s what happens when you project further than the next game. When you’ve got a positive vibe going from winning important games you can’t mess with it by changing the team for next game because you feel games further down the line are more important. We cut our nose off to spite our face.

Missed the match as I was down with a light cold so thought I need more rest.

Hadn't have a good rest TBH, was even edgy in my sleep dreaming all sorts of scoreline, sort of preparing myself for the worse.

Woke up to a nightmare. Fucking hurts. Worse than the cough.

And we could have had Blackburn in the next round.

What a terrible club. Downright shitty and cursed. Really what's the point anymore of its existence. The club has nothing to back up all of their lofty talks.

Really heartbroken - wanted the FA Cup so much especially leaving just the Manchester clubs in the mix. ?

The saddest part about the whole “they showed up and thought they’d win” issue is that…

… WE’VE DONE THIS VERY THING COUNTLESS TIMES BEFORE.

We *always* underestimate cup opponents like we’re the second coming. Every single senior member of the squad, even if they didn’t play, should hang their head in shame.

Perhaps the most humiliating performance I’ve ever seen - because it’s happened so many times before.

still fkin really p*ssed off well into my day, they can all fck off as far as I'm concerned.

If only our players cared as much as our fans- they are our club, not Levy, not Conte, not any player

Probably going to get pelters for this, but I find it funny how a few players that started in our wins v City and Chelsea are now suddenly not good enough again (Dier, Davies, Hojbjerg).

The same style and formations was used in those games, too. So it can't be that bad, right?

Levy is getting pelters, but it's down to the manager and players to win the match on the day.

This defeat annoys me, don't get me wrong, but there are so many OTT reactions after every defeat and it's laughable.

For me it's about mentality... we are so soft and weak... it's happened countless times before. Especially against so called weaker teams... that winning mentality, we just don't have it... we need to buy it, before we can build it up inside the club... it's not going to come with how we operate now.

Against Sheffield we should be able to at least show some resistance and hunger to win that cup. You can go behind. You can have a bad game. A-team, B-team... whatever... but please cause them some trouble or give them a proper fight/comeback... same with M'Boro, Mura, Zagreb, Vitesse blah, blah, blah... we could go on and on... typical f**** Spurs. Awful !!

If we are not going to take cups seriously can we at least just play the kids and see what happens? At least then we get at least one game where we can see if we have any future stars. They might even surprise us and go on a run.
This. Since Poch days I have been saying as well. It bugs me no end we never started with a strong team and then still bring on the first teamers trying to salvage something. If the cups are so not worth the managers' time, then ffs bring on some youngsters and bloody blood them.

Is complacency isn't it. Typical for so many of the players been here so long and such frustrations keep occurring.

Would have expected some true winners like Perisic, and even Lloris if he's fit, to guide the team. But no. They are being misguided by the bigger bunch to be complacent thinking they are in a big club and will win without trying.

Totally agree... find a way to win in a game like that. I don't care how... that's what real winners do... but Tottenham drag you down. It's a bug. And our players get infected every season.

Spursy! Same players, same results. It's going to be so tough with that lot taking the league and us with nothing to show again! Rhetoric shows us that little changes and I believe like some of you that this club is cursed.

As for the match club should refund those wonderful fans who were the only plus point last night when I was watching never stopped singing and as usual didn't deserve that. As for players Sanchez falling over like Bambi on ice yet again, everyone thinking he was injured then just thinking wtf after and Richarlson...my god 60 million of absolute dross! Don't know if any of your remember when Geoff Thomas had about 1 England cap and took a shot from the centre of goal about 25 yards and it hit the corner flag!?! He managed to recreate that last night, dreadful! Certainly know how to waste money us lot as well.

Crazy amount of changes last night, a front line with zero games together as a 3, 2 wing backs that don’t really like to defend and Sanchez. Crazy, Davies been solid last few games….I know let’s move him to the back 3 to accommodate Perisic. All for what? We might be fresher to maybe grind out a 1-0 at Wolves? 5 bloody subs as well. Win the game in the first 45 mins then sub 5 best players in 2nd half. Honestly last night is beggars belief, responsibility for that is a collective from top to bottom.

Funny thing is we all know what's coming next.

Rested team for the weekend's game = midweek cup exit.

Followed by those rested players then putting in a poor performance for the weekend game.

It has happened far too often at this club and its because standards are not set across the board.

Cup exit? Oh that's ok, we still have CL to qualify for...

United, Liverpool and whoever else take a cup exit very seriously.

We used to. I wonder why that changed?
It’s not lucrative to win cups v CL and the management obviously feel the squad can’t manage both

Seriously I want the club to go all in the CL now. I don't care how and I know they are incapable of, but they have to fucking deliver and win the damn trophy.

The shitty players think they are too big for the smaller domestic cups, then go ahead and win the biggest one there.

Our last ten years of the FA Cup rounds

View attachment 123332

not great
So that's a team that was relegated, a thoroughly midtable Everton and two Championship teams. In Europe it's a club who had a manager in prison, a Conference group we were apparently too good for and soon to be a Milan side who'd lost 5 of their last 6. Serial winners my arse. Closest from this four year tour of weekly bores was the League Cup in 2021, because at least we lost to a good side.

I cannot believe we've spent the last four years of our limited time on Earth watching managers who don't want to be here playing shite football specifically to win, and then they don't. At least Sisyphus was getting regular exercise, this is like watching Sisyphus knowing the fucking boulder is going to roll down again, but being told "if he gets some new shoes, maybe the torture will be a bit more bearable".
