We play 7-0-3. We don’t look like scoring at all, in so many games.
Thanks you’ve answered the confusion I’ve had about the way we set up. 7-0-3 with 2 wing backs. That is what conte has done to us and try to disguise it as 343. It’s like we just have players stood around the area of play passing around the outside of it. Ive never seen such a thing before.

Been to bed, slept, still feel livid.

I can’t get excited about qualifying for top 4 as we never use the CL as a platform to push on. I don’t expect us to beat Milan as they’ll know how to defend against our hopeless attack. Feels like we’re just sleepwalking to a mediocre end to the season.

What a waste.

Soon as we crash out of the CL I’m done watching us for this season. I wanted the fa cup so badly, and I really thought there was a chance, but the team thought otherwise. That was the most spineless performance I’ve seen this season, and Sheffield United rested players!

I dont think anyone can blame the defence for us scoring zero last night and offering little or no attacking threat against a second string championship side

The insistence it's a 343 is incredible marketing, because it implies the most stacked part of our team would be the midfield. It is not.

Maybe we should have started with a stronger team but as others have said we’ve tried that before & that’s not always worked either, added to which their team was nowhere near their strongest, but they all put a shift in & more importantly than anything, THEY WERE BRAVE, brave in endeavour & brave in mind.
Don’t know whether it’s arrogance or fear but something is wrong with the way we setup for these games.

I am absolutely furious about last night. Real chance to win some silverware. Can you imagine what Kane was thinking on the coach/flight back last night? Bet he’s on the phone the morning asking his agent to get him out the club this summer.

In reference to the bold parts: This is why we never win anything. This was the most important game because this was the only competition we had a realistic chance of winning. If we lose at the weekend there still 12 games left to play to fight for 4th. If we beat Milan do you think we’re going to win the CL. Almost certainly not just means a couple more money spinning games. We’re a football club! Winning trophies should be our main goal not earning more money.
Surely saying we won’t win the Champions League is exactly the same thing you are taking umbrage with over last nights game. Why write it off? If you actually look at who will be left in the CL after this round some big teams will be out and you never know we may get a favourable tie. Ether way, the team we put out last night wasn’t completely a B team. Really the only two major players missing were Kane and Romero. Porro played well for the most part, Sarr a lot of people have wanted to start anyway and Kulu has been out of form of late and Lucas was the best out of the front line last night. If we had played more youth players then I would be more inclined to agree with you but that line up last night should have won without question. I mean really we are only a few injuries away from that being our starting line up anyway. Even tho Sanchez was poor, Dier and PEH were also horrendous and our new 60 mil striker was absolutely useless. Really it was our attack that let us down in my opinion not our defence. Even with the odd defensive error we were pretty comfortable defensively for most of that game.

Personally I think all last night showed is that we are actually a really badly coached team that heavily relies on a world class striker to bail us out.

Beh... We'll go out of the CL next and then have only one game a week and we'll go on another unbeaten run for the rest of the season, and this will be forgotten.

The thing is though, he wasn't putting himself about, screaming at his teammates, inspiring everyone to give more and do better. When we need someone to step up, take the game by the scruff of the neck and turn things around, he doesn't. I love Harry, but he is as culpable as anyone for the lack of silverware.

In theory, when you have decent wing backs, you can overload the midfield at certain points of the game. This is assuming you're not using a shot Perisic or brand new Porro to try and achieve it.

I posted in the team V Shef Utd thread that needed to go full strength for this one. Quite a few(the majority I'd say) thought we should rotate so it's not like it was something a lot of fans wouldn't have done. I knew after the first 15 minutes we were in for a rough night because the team started dropping deeper and deeper after the early back line mistakes again. I was actually hoping we'd go into the break one nil down so we could have had a reset at half time. That back line without Romero is at panic stations from the first mistake until the final whistle, and the rest of the team don't trust they can keep the ball out of the net.

So Whose fault was it last night?

A/Was it the players fault because they didn't want it enough or work hard enough.
B/ Was it the Coaches fault because he picked those players and didn't change it soon enough
C/Was it Levy's fault because the squad is half full of players that are just not good enough and/or mentally right to win competitions and be consistent.

The real answer is all of the above. Of the players that played some of them didn't put enough of a shift in Son is the prime example of this doesn't tackle or close down just occupies space when we are out of possession and he's a complete passenger when he's not scoring. Stellini/Conte or whoever picked that side got it all wrong trusting some of those players to get it done without the big guns was a big mistake. Finally Levy has left us in a position where unless Kane and Romero play we are either toothless up top, or deer in the headlights at the back. Danjuma is a prime example of everything Levy prioritises as far as this football club. VFM regardless if whether it's the right fit, or what the manager is asking for. At least they got to save that £50million he told us all we had to spend on the squad though the share issue though hey.

You know who wasn't at fault though the fans who had to sit through that and sung their hearts out in a positive manor for the full 90. The only part of this club to come out of last night with any credit whatsoever.

And to think I missed Love Island for that.
The choice was a bunch of egotistical z-listers strolling around making idiots of themselves on national tv.
Or Love Island.

Sorry but you have to laugh. I refuse to get angry at these helmets any more. Most of them won’t care so why should I.

I have two pieces of memorabilia hanging from my office walls at home that I am very proud of.

One is the white FA CUP shirt of 81 signed by Ossis and Ricky. The other is the yellow 82 FA Cup shirt signed by Glenn Hoddle , with pictures of them celebrating with the trophy in hand.

What a shame that I will never likely have similar signed framed shirts of the likes of Kane, Son and Loris with a trophy in hand.

Culture culture culture and culture - every organisation from a global bank to a football club has a culture and a DNA. It takes a long time to change and evolve , but this is what is necessary for the club to move forward. Our culture and DNA has evolved over 20 years under ENIC and wont change until they leave
I feel very lucky to have seen the teams of the 1980s. Especially with the rubbish we have to put up with now.

Alot of our players and they've done so for years definitely believe they can rock up to games and coast through them and think we'll win.

I said before the game last night our attitude had better be right or else we'd be out on our arse, same old fuckin story, im still fuming such a massive missed opportunity, I honestly cant see this club winning anything for the forseeable future, wankers.

My lasting image of last night is of Sanchez stood like an obedient schoolboy with hands neatly clasped behind his back making no attempt to prevent the goal scorer get his shot away.

Morning to reflect on last nights debacle. The club don't want to win anything its clear look at our history recently in cups etc etc we lose to sides that 99% of the time that we as a club should be turning over. There is no guarantee we would have won this years FA or Lge cup but boy we had a really good opportunity and once again we failed to deliver. I cannot understand the wholesale changes that were made, why??? You do that at your peril which we have found out may times before. there is no learning from it. There were players out there last night I hope I never see again as they were a disgrace, I won't mention names as you all know who they are and constantly let us down. Some of the decisions made are nothing sort of calamitous and is costing us time and time again. Until there is change for the good we will never have a winning mentality.
