There's some disagreement here, so let's poll it. The second goal for Blackburn - was it Gomes fault or not? yes/no

Two main groups of comments so far:

1 -- Gomes had an easy cross to catch and blew it.

2 -- Defenders left Blackburn players unmarked.

Well? Let's be havin' ya!!

3. Gomes made a very decent save in the build up to the corner, which had he not we would have lost anyway and nobody would be blaming him when we had players in front of him that should have dealt with it.

Can't just blame Gomes, yes he should/could of done better, but who was picking him up?

100% the defenders infront of him. They have to attack that ball and head it away. You cannot let a ball drop into that area without a challenge.

Samba made all our players look like boys, I mean the bloke is seriously strong. It was this strength that allowed the ball to trickle past the near post into the 6 yard box. Whoever was supposed to be marking Oijer needs shooting!

The defensive unit including Gomes should have dealt with it better. To be fair that cros should never have got past the near post. Bent AND Jenas should have cleared. Unfortunatley for Gomes, he expected this to be done and both missed it.

definatly bad defending
jenas and corluka let the blackburn player have the run of the 6 yard box
saying that it was the most indeserved defeat we have had this season

I think we have to look at the positives, we are actually looking like a good team now, we deffinatly work harder now and harder to beat but the most important thing is we are actually passing the ball nicely again too. Was a horrible game to watch today, everytime blackburn get the ball they just hoof the ball into the box that's what they do well. But we tried to get it down and pass it today, we made some really good moves. So unlucky today. COYS

I voted no even though Gomes was at fault, but he wasn't the only one.

I think the poll results may be reflecting this overall attitude - many don't want to blame him today, but he's always a liability in their minds...

He also made some good catches, and a good save.

I agree he made a good save just before the corner. But, one could say that was a routine cross for a premiership calibre keeper to handle. I admit I don't remember any "good" catches earlier in the match. He did catch the ball a few times, almost always unchallenged though.

I've been supporting Gomes all season in the hopes the great keeper they signed would emerge. Today was the straw that broke my back. Bitter over loss today - can't you tell?

You make your own luck

We weren't unlucky today, we were head and shoulders the better side but needed the 2nd goal.
We were not clinical enough and got sloppy against a very poor side who for 90% of the game just hoofed it.

To not even get a point out of that game is a bloody disgrace but it has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with why we're still bottom half softies.

That game, like most, was all about Heart/Mentality/Passion/Concentration..........not luck

If anything we had the luck by getting the penalty. We should not have let them back in that even with 10 men at the end.

Have to say you might be right, but I thought we really dominated the match and we always looked in control, playing some nice football in parts and them to nick it in the last mins was horrible but hey thats football for you.

Yep for 75 mins we smashed them to pieces and played some beautiful football.

The team and the manager to some extent need shooting for ending up with nothing.

Is he not allowed to make mistakes? Always looking for a reason to get him out!

Mainly Corluka, you cannot lose your man in the box. The keeper should be able to have enough faith in his defenders not to think its going to drop in the middle of the box to an unmarked man.
