I seem to recall you were pretty negative about him, no?

2010 (Me arguing that I think Bale is more exciting player than Waddle)

My most frequent assessment of Bale until last season was that - especially as one of a midfield 4 - is that if you are not providing consistent end product, then you have to at least work for the team when you are not, defensively and team play wise. The best players generally do this.

Just because you can see a player's talent, doesn't mean you don't criticise his flaws. And it doesn't mean you don't call a bad game a bad game.

Me too. Ali Dick on one wing a Richard Cook on the other. The guy I went with used to say 'typical Spurs - a pair of Dicks on either wing!'. When he came down from Scotland he was going to turn into the star. Didn't happen for him.
4-2 win at Luton with them on the wings, happy days

I know. This way off topic but one last memory about Dick. In one reserve game the "forward line" was Cook, Crook, Crooks, Brooke and Dick. Sorry - had to get it off my chest.

Hope we get Halilovic!

Halilovics are waiting for a bid from spain what I have heard.

+ his brother is average at best

+ everything fine between the clubs.

Let's see how they decide.

Why would the Spanish bid? They can buy their players at their peak and/or have their own.

So, Zagreb have sacked their manager.

This must be a good thing if we want to sign him and loan him back. Wasn't one of the problems that his dad didn't like the manager. Now he's gone the dad might be more receptive to him being loaned back there.

Updateeee, gone way too quiet.

Looks like we might have instead moved onto that Todor. I hoped for both.

I doubt there's anyone left to speak with Old Man Halilovic.

My instinct is that fundamentallly he wants his son to have the best chance to fulfil his potential which means, at its most siimplistic:

a) a coach who believes in his son;
b) playing time.

We had some ITK that AVB rates Halilovic but for the family there's a lot of new information to process. If we sign Willian and Lamela, that reduces the chance of first time minutes for Halilovic, and given Nedelev is 20 he would presumably also be ahead of young Alen.

If one or both of Lennon and Townsend stay, I think Sejad may decide his son should continue his development at another club.

Dinamo Zagreb probably need the money now after last night's CL result, but Sejad seems to be the one making the decisions about Alen's future.

I don't doubt that talk stemmed from here:

http://www.vecernji.hr/sport/vijesti/halilovic-se-jos-vise-priblizio-odlasku-dinama-clanak-600116

(^^^ in Croatian)

Nothing concrete, but another article suggesting that Halilovic's time at Dinamo is coming to an end and that he is very close to a move to Tottenham.

The last hurdle for the transfer was called Sejad Halilovic. Alen's father wasn't totally for his transfer to Spurs. There are a few reasons. Being a coach himself, he knows that Alen wouldn't play in Tottenham's first team, that he's physically not ready yet for English football and that's why he was pulling more for a move to Spain, where, he also played professionally. They already were close to both Real and Atletico before they eventually signed the deal with Dinamo. Tottenham wasn't the club he envisioned his son going to.

Last week the talks resumed and again there were holdups. The family and Dinamo asked for a few days, and now, it seems, that everything is close to being finalized. Apparently Alen's father came to the conclusion that a move to Tottenham was better for his son than remaining at Dinamo. Alen likely wouldn't get a lot of minutes in the Champions League (if Dinamo qualify) and would have to settle for minutes in the 1.HNL (Croatian League). His value might drop and he wouldn't improve.

Dinamo is willing to sell as a lot of money is in question (talks of transfer fees from 12m to 20m euros) for a player who at this time wouldn't be a huge factor in the Champions League. Dinamo also wouldn't want his value to fade. In Dinamo they don't wish to talk about it, but it appears that a deal is very close.

*****

Again, nothing really groundbreaking there, and more speculation from the Croatian journalists. But whispers are saying it's looking likely.

Nothing has changed. Dinamo suffered a huge loss last night, immediately fired their manager, and all along we weren't really supposed to hear anything new until now anyway.

Just because nothing's being reported, it doesn't mean anything has changed. For better, or for worse. Last "signals" still point to Halilovic signing for Spurs. But we'll see.

okay i am not too sure how the relations between spurs and roma are right now but........
If we do sign Erik Lamela and signed Halilovic too,
is it possible we could set up a 1-2year loan spell with Roma for Halilovic?
Halilovic gets possible playing time at a higher standard of football...
Roma get a good replacement possibly great replacement for Lamela for the next 2 years whilst they scout for the next Lamela for there future?
Just putting it out there is this at all possible?
much love x

Halilovic doesn't get into Dinamo's first team... How would he get into Roma's?

Good point but they would have just sold a player that plays Halilovic's position whom many regard as possibly world class?

'possibly' & 'potentially' are the key words. He needs to develop for 1-2 years before he's even considered starting for a top club.

Their fans are absolutely livid with the potential sale of Lamela, the ultras will apparently kick off big time if there isn't several quality signings to come in. I doubt they will be appeased by the prospect of developing our potentially world class wonderkid.
