Can we please lay off the whole "GB11" thing "CR7" is bad enough but at least it's semi original. It doesn't even make it any easier to type!! It's the same amount of letters and everything...

I know you don't like him but Adam Suter said Levys dealing with Mamic but its on the back burner due to the GB11 saga!

I'm sure it's on the back burner from Dinamo's side as well. Huge game tonight to try to salvage their Champions League hopes (down 2-0 from the first leg).

'I know you don't like him but Adam Suter..'

I'll Stop you right there.

It isn't a case of - Oh, we don't like him but he still is ITK.

We don't like him because he isn't ITK and acts like he is, deceiving fellow fans to stroke his own ego.

Please don't post his shite.

"Bayern in for Halilovic." No, it's not a joke (at least not according to some Italian media).

But they are alluding to Bayern having Halilovic wait out his contract and then come to oin them. With Bayern offering him 2m euros per season. Similar reports were suggested recently, only with Real Madrid being the club.

His contract situation isn't exactly clear (contradicting reports), but the story is that Dinamo tied him down for as long as they could with another contract lined-up after. They apparently had a "promise" (at least) from the Halilovic's. Mamic has recently said they have Alen tied to a long-term deal, but the belief is that they can't technically have a deal with him (that's valid within UEFA's underage laws) and that the Halilovic's could back-out of any "verbal promise" or whatever they had in place. Still hard to believe that Dinamo/Mamic would have let that be the case, without a safety-net.

Dinpomp - thanks, as always.

Normally, if a club offers a young player who has come through their academy a better contract than their existing one, and that player decides to turn the contract down, then the club get a "compensation payment" if the player signs with another club.

This can be fairly substantial in the UK. Eg Man Utd wanted c£6million for Zeki Fryers, so he - ahem - decided to spend 6 months in Belguim before we signed him much cheaper.

Dinpomp - are you able to confirm that if Halilovic let his contract run out and went to, say, Bayern, the compensation fee would not be as high as the £12 million or so that we were prepared to pay?

If the "compensation payment" is potentially significantly lower, then I would imagine that Levy & Baldini are having second thoughts about their agreed offer.

Thanks to Gilzeantheking who posted in the Daily thread....

Jasper on SO re Halilovic

Regarding Halilovic we as you know have agreed with all parties, including his family. However daddy wants more time to talk to the family as he tries to really see if he can get RM/Barca or similar in LaLiga to come to the party.
Word is nobody wants to come under his terms. Our offer stands. His club pushing for the deal to go through so they can have the much needed cash, but daddy will not be pushed. Does he have an ulterior motive? Only he knows

I would absolutely love to get this kid

20 appearances last year?

Anyway thought we did a deal with a dutch club to help develop players?
Send him to Ajax...

Seriously, pay them a 'lil if we have to.

If you want a place to develop a great player that's where it's at.

Correct but also incorrect. You're right in that all clubs get a compensation fee for transfers of players that came through the youth system, however you're wrong that this was the fee for fryers if he came straight to us. The compensation fees are quite low, usually 1-2% of the transfer fee. This is described as a compensation for fees in training the player from youth to first team. The fryers fee was down to the Bosman ruling, where if a player leaves a club at the end of their contract to go to another club in the same country, and they are under 24 then a further compensation fee must be agreed between the clubs. If it can't be agreed then it would go to a tribunal, like bostock did for us. That's why the fryers fee was gonna be so high, because united wanted 6 mil. It was not the automatic compensation fee.
