If (and it's a big if) we can afford the extra few thousand in wages and the school fees, then pay it. Just pay it for goodness sake. Opportunities to sign a young talent like Halilovic don't come around very often.

Don't worry, we'll try to sign him again in 3 years time when he's worth £25m and we have no chance

I've watched fair few games with him in, but to get an idea of his talent go look at youtube compilations... I know they can make anyone look good but worth a viewing.

Yeah, I've checked a couple but I don't pay attention to YouTube compilations for the reason you've just stated. You get more info from seeing a player's faults than what he does really well.

Supposedly deal off according to Aleksander Holiga on twitter............

https://twitter.com/AlexHoliga

Guys, everything that's being posted now is already in the Jedvaj thread (these posts in this thread are on a 8-10 hour time delay). Those guys are just re-hashing what I've already posted. From the same source(s).

It's funny how it works. An Italian reporter (Di Marzio or Pedulla) report something, I post it in the Jedvaj thread, eventually Croatian journalists get a hold of the story (sometimes after it's already been translated into English - like the 101goals one), they report it, and then someone from Spurs Community gets a hold of that and posts it on here. Have a headache yet? :D

No new info then to add weight to what the Italian chap said ? Just the same bit of 'info' going round in a circle.

Yes. Look at the Pedulla story I posted in the Jedvaj thread. 101goals translated it basically word for word, including all the same amounts (player salaries). Then Holiga saw that article on 101 and said how that was very interesting and no one in the Croatia media even reported it. Then it got posted back here. :D

I think Fryers is earning close to 20k p/w so Halilovic is definently worth that. Even if he doesn't want to leave Zagreb yet with that money he (and his family) would.

Source ?

Doubt that very much. He was apparantly earning about £1.5k pw at ManU and (reasonably wanted a raise).

Townsend was (per HR) on about £3k pw whilst at QPR - no doubt as a first team squad member he will be on say £5k - £8k pw.

Just to be clear, the figures that were being bandied about for Halilovic were in euros, not pounds.

On this weeks FIFA Futbol Mundial on Sky Sports 1, there is a segment on Dinamo Zargreb and their set-up and policies etc and next week they have a special segment dedicated to Halilovic. They called him the teen who is about to become the hottest property in europe. There is a repeat of this weeks at 4am tomorrow morning so set your Sky plus if interested and next weeks is on at 5pm next wednesday then probably repeated again at 4am on the Thursday.

Dinpomp has been telling us all about him for well over a year now. He is exactly the type of player we should be targeting as in a couple of years we wil not be able to afford him e.g. Oscar/Bernard/Lamela

Yes we get it, Levy is a ****. He's destroying our club and will not spend any money.

Do we have to repeat it every day? In every thread? Even the most devote Levy hater must be getting a little bored by now?

I can't remember which one but 'Arry's comments on Townsend's small wages were rather rude since either Townsend had taken a paycut to join QPR or Spurs had covered the difference, cutting them a special deal.

As for the £20k a week for Fryers, it was based on a couple of articles that took Fryers' agent's comments out of context. The point he was making was that if United valued Fryers as highly as they claimed in the tribunal then they should have been offering him £20k a week in wages.

As for Halilovic, I think people are getting carried away. It's likely the deal was stretching our budgets through the transfer fee alone so it's understandable if the club drew the line at the huge contract demands the player was making. Even if we met his demands, like some are saying, it may well be that his agent turns around and wants a ridiculous fee too and again it's easy for us to say "give them what they want" but a line has to be drawn otherwise we end up like Liverpool were with numerous overpaid players simply because they said "yes" rather than looking at other options. A line has to be drawn at somepoint and I reckon those at our club are better placed to know where to say "enough" than we are.

Ultimately though I'm more interested in us making the transfers we need for this season. Halilovic might become a top player over the next 5 years but we already have one in Bale and the only way we'll keep him(or any other player of his calibre that comes through our club) is by making sure we put a squad together that compete for trophies and that, I'd hope, is our priority.

So the big deals we are in for are Paulinho, Villa, the Croatian lads, Leandro and Bernard?

How many left now? All hail Levy.
