1.Our fanbase didn't even want him then, and knocking price down with club with financial problems is a very smart idea
2. I would say we are tracking probably every decent prospect, especially in England.
1. Clearly it wasn’t a very smart idea - pay the price, get the player, especially when it’s a difference maker like Grealish. And I can safely say there was a large part of the fan base that wanted him to sign (isn’t that right @freeeki )
2. You would hope so - but the point was that we’ve not taken the punt on him at any stage. The decision has largely been ours, not his.

1. We pissed about on Grealish by trying to knock the price down and lost him because of that.
2. There was ITK on Maddison back as a 15-16 year old (at Coventry I think). We tracked him for a long time. Strange thing to do if they “hate Spurs”

It's irrelevant about from what age we tracked him. As an adult, he's made it public he doesn't like us

Ornstein said palace and West Ham were front runners, no mention of us
Somewhere between the deal to us was done and dusted in January and now, we seemed to have dropped our interest. What’s odd is that no top half club is on him either. Looks a good player with a ton of potential.

Between January and now other things have come up which means the money that would've gone there is needed somewhere else.

Didn't Maddison openly state that he went to Norwich for game time? I seem to remember us twice trying to sign him from Coventry and then again from Norwich with the option for a loan back? I was sure he turned us down for game time.

I see Eze as a replacement to Eriksen. It'll be annoying if we missed out on another guaranteed top player.

I fully understand we need serious upgrades at full back a DM and imo LCB

We need to sign EZE even if it means we have to send him to loan for another year to QPR.

Throwing it in here as they are similar players, but Zaha is being touted by his own Chairman. It seems like they need to sell and are offering at around £40m. Personally I'm not bothered as I'd want someone who could reliably score goals for that price.

It's a much more realistic price than the 70-80m they wanted in previous years. He needs to move, I think he has regressed this season.

Yeah, too many of these threads are now about other players.

Since this post we have had mention of Eze, Zaha, Maddison and Grealish but no mention of the person who the thread is about.

I would like to throw Brooks into the mix just to confuse matters further.

Hopefully we can get this thread to 100 pages without naming the player who it is about again.

Do you mean Simon Jordan? If so - he's no longer their Chairman.

I think for 40 he could be worth a punt. Though I’d prefer Grealish for 50. Not sure we’d get either for those fees, and not sure we have the money, unless Ndombele is on the way out for good money

ASM I’m not sure about to be honest. Looks skilful, but I think if we’re massively shelling out for for an attacker, I’d want someone with a more consistent final ball
