Don't know much about Morata, but I think we need player(s) plus cash if Bale goes for the simple reason that if other clubs know we have a wad of cash their valuations will go off the scale.

Would it be illegal to underplay the actual amounts involved, or the amounts we receive up-front?

Edit: Re Bale

Morata played on the left a fair bit for Real Madrid. His future is as a #9 in my opinion, but he'd fit the mold of the young WF/Striker that we could really use to give us some really good depth with huge upside.

For me, it's Morata or Jese that need to be involved for any deal with Bale. If we're losing our world class player, I expect to get a youngster that could someday become world class in return.

Really like the look of Jese.

If it was between the two I'd be taking Jese for what it's worth.

I love the idea of having our striker position locked up for the next 5+ years by having Soldado now and Morata learning from him.

I'm a big Jese fan, too. I just think Morata would mean more to the club as we've seen just how expensive it can be to go out and buy a top class striker.

Apparently Real are unwilling to include Morata in the deal because they rate him so highly
Which is odd, because we also rate Bale highly

For me, Morata would be a vital part of the deal. He's meant to be very, very good. If they want Bale though, it'll have to hurt them, and not just with cash.

The problem is that I doubt he's prepared to leave - he's on the verge of their first team after selling Higuain

5 plus? Morata wont be here that long based on what ive seen of our star players from the last 10 years.

I'd love to get Morata as i've mentioned many times on the Spurs scouting thread. He is a classic CF and probably the best young prospect in that position in Europe. The fact that he can play other positions in the front line is testament to his ability but he really is best at CF. I first watched him in the Euro U19s in 2011 where he finished tournament top scorer. He repeated the feat at this year's Euro U21s despite not being 1st choice at the start of the tournament.

Some people on here got quite excited when we were linked with Jese (also from RM). Jese is absolute dross compared to Morata.

Unfortunately I can't see any way that RM would be prepared to let Morata go. If he's given enough 1st team football he is IMHO going to develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the near future. Frankly i'd be happy if we bought him for £25M now but we wouldn't pay that and I doubt RM would consider selling him for that. The only way we would get him would be as part of Bale going the other way and with Soldado arriving we need Bale more than we need Morata.

To be fair we could always put a buy back clause in for them. It's not like we could do sweet FA about it if they came back in for him a couple of years down the line...

I agree that he doesnt have an end product in terms of looking up and picking a pass, but he will score more than Lennon in a season.
All round game isnt yet in Lennon's league.

Came on around the 80th minute against Chelsea and was absolutely incredible leading the line. Skill, power, deceptively quick, great touches etc and scored with an absolute beauty of a backheel that was ruled offside. Madrid won 3-1

Don't think they'll be selling him anytime soon unfortunately:dead:

I'd love to get him, but it's not going to happen. Real want to keep him and he doesn't want to leave. He's very close to being a guy who can get regular starts at the club.

It's not just that, it's political. Perez would come under pressure spending all that money on Bale and letting go another great prospect from the Real academy. Because Barca produce great young players, the Real fans and press want Real to do the same, and have some in the side.
