Levy's transfer tactics have been found out; Premiership clubs just won't sell to us anymore.

Most clubs who aren't bankrolled by a willing billionaire engage in these tactics. Levy isn't the first to do it nor is he the last.

I don't love football as much as I use to.

Before I use to feel we had a purpose, or an achievable goal.

At best we've stood still. At worst gone backwards.

I can't cheer and get excited over a spreadsheet.

It think that is over egging it a bit, but the reputation as a tough dealer which he's cultivated has definitely meant that some chairman want to slap their dicks on the table and get a tape measure out when he comes calling.

Really? Because I haven't seen nearly as many coaches, managers, other chairman or journalists make the same remarks about Southampton's, Everton's, West Ham's, Palace's Villa's chairmen. These are all teams who can seal a deal. Levy has clearly failed this summer. His principle job during the summer season is to negotiate and sign contracts on new recruits. He has failed with 2 dozen people. I dread to think how many players we bid for this summer only to be laughed out of it. Safe assumption we're the laughing stock of Chief Execs all over the world

Levy's reputation, particularly with British media, has been major contribution in the way other clubs set out their initial stance with him, with the objective of standing strong and becoming inflexible. Levy needs to work on plan b, as plan a has been rumbled and run its course.

I'm not trying to condemn your unpopular opinion but I have a question for you and others that have a similar mindset.

What's the spreadsheet got to do with it? Why can't you cheer for the new dynamic, exciting talent that is Son? The lightning fast, precocious, exciting player with buckets of potential that is Clinton N'jie? Why can't you cheer for our 30 goal season, 22 year old academy striker? Why can't you cheer for our world class keeper and captain? Why can't you cheer for the likes of Mason, Pritchard, Townsend etc; academy graduates that have been at the club since they were kids, guys that are as much fans on the pitch as they are professional footballers; players that are as passionate about the club as the old geezer in the stands who was there for the glory, glory days? Why can't you cheer for the likes of Chadli and Eriksen; 10 goal a season players with outrageous, exciting natural talent? How about the likes of Bentaleb and Rose; players that are as passionate as any of us, guys that literally give everything they have for the shirt while they're on the pitch?

There's plenty to cheer about this season.

I said in another thread that whatever the results of this transfer window I would still cheer and be excited to see the likes of Alli, Son, Pritchard and Njie et al.
My point was that we could and should be so much more, and but for the fact our board/chairman have clearly been doing our business on a budget (virtual zero net spend for the last 5/6;years) we probably would have won an Fa cup, another league cup, or maybe had an other outing in the CL (mind the gap season springs to mind when HR wasn't backed in the January TW)

It's like being married to a millionairess, and yet you live in a 2 bed semi, drive a focus, and have beans on toast for tea every night. Nothing wrong with any of those 3 things, but when you have the means to enjoy things that are way much better but don't, it leaves you feeling a bit underwhelmed and uninspired.

I have a lot of faith in Poch, Levy and this current side.

Wimmer will dislodge Vertonghen
Alli will be a key player this year
Son will get 10+ goals
N'Jie was a striker for Lyon so a striker for us he can be
Trippier will eventually take over Walker
Kane is going to struggle this season
Lamela will be a revelation
Eriksen will be the don
Dier will become a future England CDM international.

COYS.

I think that although very nice to have youngsters with potential in the squad their abilities are overestimated.

Also the ease of which they will be able to attain a spot in the squad will take away from their hunger.

too much too young.

they dont have to grab the money anymore given the increased TV money that kicks in next year .... anything between £15 and £25m they can bat it away. Levys low ball tactics now totally antiquated not to mention his embarrassing low upfront payment offers

Hey @Francis Gibbs I thought this was an amnesty thread? there's a fuck tonne I disagree with in here but I sit on my hands given what this thread is for. I know it's not a neg (and, frankly, it wouldn't bother me if it was) but I don;t think we should be discouraging people from posting in here, let's keep this section nice and fun, yeah where people can blow off some steam.

Sorry yeah your right I didn't realise what thread I was in, will undo rating

Maybe they have greater ambitions than most of our fans do. Seems clear to me that we could have bought more players and invested more in international stars and maybe challenged for 4th but the reality is that isn't going to see the club progress and we'd still never compete with the big teams or do anything in the European competition once we'd got there. Our inability to compete with the top clubs not only means that we don't have a chance to win titles but we also can't keep our best players once the bigger clubs with more money come along.

I think Levy has witnessed it and decided that our current trajectory and following the plan to continually sign players for the now isn't going to get us where we need. So we've invested in an academy, invested in a new scouting team who I have no doubt will find young talent and we are investing in a stadium that will allow us to have a significantly greater turnover. We're increasing our brand appeal in the US, have great sponsorship partners and best of all we have a squad full of really young talent.

It may be frustrating that we can't do better than 5th or 6th now but the long term aim of the club is to be way more than that on a consistent basis. I truly believe that Levy has the aim of bringing ultimate glory back to Tottenham and he doesn't care about pissing off our fans in the short term to do it.
