I agree with robbiedee. We had to make a forced sub, so I'm not really surprised we didn't decide to swap striker for striker and Defoe was still capable of getting into decent positions - unlike him his finishing was off.

Fuck me. Any excuse to have a moan. Even your own opinion doesn't get in the way of a good ol whinge. Definite talks between yourself required.
It was a dire performance all over the field. I'm merely suggesting a viable option. We couldn't break them down, our movement was awful and so a good target man like Ade would have introduced a new dynamic.

So suck it!

I don't know about not being able to break them down. We scored fairly early, then Lennon went through one on one. Defoe had a couple of chances when he should've scored but didn't strike it properly and then later scored. It could've been 4 or 5, but our main problem was defence - that could've been 4 or 5 as well.

They had the better chances IMO. Carved us open at will. We're just lucky that Isa couldn't hit a barn door.

Our defense and midfield were poor.

EDIT: Just re-read your last sentence. Agreed.

In light of your previous comments, and the quoted response above, are you admitting that it was a bit bi polar and / or do you at least recognise the irony of your statements?

AVB is better defensively than Redknapp but worse offensively.

Simple statement but true.

Personnel has changed too. We're not carrying Modric and VDV without the ball but we've also lost their individuality with the ball.

I always find AVB's sub management baffling.

I would imagine there's probably more to it than meets the eye.

AVB seems to be a 'modern sports coach' and as such uses statistical and medical analysis to assess his own squad's strengths, and his opponent's weaknesses. He'll probably also plan 3 or 4 weeks in advance for up-coming matches, which will take his own players' fitness levels into account.

What this means is that he'll probably draw up a list of contingencies for every match using the data-set above, and act on them depending on how the match pans-out.

Since he's sticking to raw data rather than gut instinct, substitutions will sometimes look counter-intuitive, even though the 'data' supports the decision.

I could be wrong, but that's the way I see it.

More of a sweeping statement really.....better how exactly. Not disagreeing just yet, just want to know your reasoning behind it, because of course there are many reasons.....for instance, the one you made above.... Not sure what Modric and VDV's personal abilities have to do with Harrys managerial nous...

Are you saying that with our current team HR would have us banging in 3 goals a game but conceeding at least one?

May be AVB would be better in the accounts department then;)

Adebayor was pretty crap last season, he's missed the entirety of pre-season, we've tried to sell him, it was his first involvement in a matchday squad this season, and there is a clear pecking order, with Soldado first choice, Defoe second, and Adebayor firmly in third.

Now if everything was gravy Adebayor would clearly move up that order, but its not and I don't think its a great sign to all the people who put in the effort, showed a better attitude, and have the fitness to put Adebayor in ahead of them.

If Manu wants to get back into the team then he is going to have to show a little grace, a bit of modesty, and earn his chance. Not simply get back in because he is now making himself available.

This was about reintegration, Manu will have to show patience if he wants to get back into AVB's good books. If he does then he could be very effective, but AVB has to look a bit longer term than one night in Moldova

I've never jerked any knees!

So you are criticising AVB for not bringing on a striker that according to you is "REALLY, REAAAALLLY bad at football" and "has no first touch, no shot, poor pace and 0 vision for a pass..."

Your logic baffles me.

Didn't say he was a bad target man or poor in the air, did I?
