Think people are getting abit overhyped on their new signings. Jesus looked great for the first 20, but when Palace woke up and Andersen got tight on him he was anonymous. His back to goal play isn't great but they kept using him like this and he was poor.

Same with zinchenko, some tidy passes but palace were in behind him *so many* times. I mean, Jordan Ayew had him on toast. The guy can't defend, even at city that was obvious and they have to do very little defending.

Salisba was impressive but palaces big weakness was a lack of cutting edge. Be interesting to see how he does against Vardy and maddison next week.

Suprosed by their real lack of depth too. White at Rb is not top 4 material, and their bench was very average. Seeing as 2 games a week hasn't even started yet I think it's a big issue for them.

I think he just got lucky that him setting up a fan channel coincided with Arsenal’s demise and it being hilarious to view for opposition fans. He’s done what anyone with 2 brain cells would do and squeezed what he can out of it
That's true. Also. I think his brother also works in some capacity for ITV, or has done. So he was probably getting some support.

Nothing wrong with that of course. Although, I think AFTV has a 'sell-by-date' as most opposing fans have got bored of it and most of the odd ball characters are no longer there.

Fair play to him. He’s obviously worked his ass off to get where he has done. There’s always a little bit of luck involved in achieving success but the guy obviously has the get up and go which many don’t and he has put the hard work in.

It definitely only got successful because of rival fans laughing at them. But it’s a formula that worked.

If you were Saliba's advisors, you'd be telling him to focus on having a strong season, don't sign a contract cause next summer bigger clubs may want to come for you.
Agreed but very rare to see players not signing new deals in their breakout seasons - and a big pay packet will likely tempt him. Didn't realise he only had 2 years left which is pretty insane. Even we should be in his ear about a potential free transfer tbh, but I suspect other clubs will want to pinch him for £30m or so next summer. Think he will sign in a few months though especially if he keeps playing every week.

Yeah will be interesting to see what happens once teams figure out how to neutralise him.

Their front 4 are all very good technically and they have some good dribblers but they're all quite small (5'6"-5'8") and aren't especially strong. None of them are slouches, but none of them have scintillating pace either.

I think they will score plenty, but I feel like the type of goals they will score are fairly limited. If you can bully them a bit and stop them playing their neat passing around the box, they don't strike me as a team with much of a plan B - kind of like a low rent Man City.

Yeah I think it's a combination of right club, right time and his relentless commitment. He was the first to do it, which helped him massively and Arsenal were also the absolute ideal club: a team in perennial decline combined with a deluded fan-base brimming with expectation. That's prime entertainment for opposition fans.

I do think he deserves a lot of respect for his ambition, though. There are plenty of copy-cat channels and "watch along" channels people film from their bedrooms but Robbie actually shows up at every single match, home or away, including pre-season friendlies and European dead-rubbers. I think being relentlessly consistent, ambitious and making it his full time job has set him apart.

As you say, he's not doing anything groundbreaking or especially smart, but he's taken some risks and actually gone for it, whereas most people would've given up or faded away years ago.

The smartest thing he’s done is ride the initial wave, reaped the benefits and now set the foundations for something far more solid and long lasting, it might not be as popular but that’s gonna be his job for life now. He’s got all his AFTV regulars, a studio, various spin off shows and the DR sports best of enemies show with expressions is particularly entertaining at times. He’s done well to dig his feet into the ground and future proof himself to a degree

Maybe there should be two arsenal threads. One for us who want to laugh at them and one for those who want to lick their arseholes?

Im in the Islington sports bar. Because a) I’ve spent 12 hours putting a radiator on a wall which was hard for someone who deals with spreadsheets and b) £3.60 beer!!!

it’s a local community pub with lovely staff. But sadly so close to stadium it’s arsenal through and through hence I don’t come here.
The locals are singing top of the league. Conte is a nonce and chatting about this being their year.
I’m excited about our year but I’d consider an easier top four or a third spot as progress. These guys think their youngsters have gone from promising to prime Xavi inesta messi (Jesus is a messi hybrid).

in my opinion their team still suffers massively when they get bullied.

Jesus played for City for 5 years was always viewed as a bit part player. I don’t remember a single period in time when he was hyped. In fact we were told the whole of last season City had NO striker. The general opinion was he was ok. So that’s 5 years week in week out on our TV screens. Bangs a few in pre season and looks decent in flashes Vs Palace and suddenly he’s a world beater. Just find it very odd people just dismiss the 5 years of factual evidence we have seen.

I've always thought Jesus was a good player, who just needed a run of games and the faith of his manager to show it.
I don't think he's as good as Son or Kane, but he'll score a fair few goals for them.

And maybe people shouldn't believe everything Sky tell them.

I don't think anyone should get too carried away about any team at this stage of the season. It's far too early. I do think Zinchenko is another good signing for them though. He can cover left back for them while they have injuries, but I think he'll mainly play in midfield when everyone is fit.

Exactly let’s win the league and then sign him. Revenge is sweet!

Is it just me or does Richarlison seem to be getting more expensive every day? At this rate he'll be the world record transfer by the end of the season! FWIW transfermarkt has it down at €58m which is £49m.
They always seem to have the add ons when it suits.

3 episodes into their AoN. Aware that the insight into our dressing room didn't look great either (before and after matches) but it's just so cringe. Arteta comes across like he is the offspring of Brendan Rodgers and Rolf Harris. The doodles in particular would drive me nuts. Half expecting him to start scatting whenever he is at the whiteboard.

Be interesting who City replace Bernardo with. If it’s a small technical player or someone bigger. Feels a bit like Pep is moving in a different direction while Arteta just formulating it as his master plan ?

so no mention of postponing our game. Surely they would have footage of them scrambling around trying to field a squad with arteta getting upset they couldnt play. Unless they just cheated as we expected
