apologies if i mistook you, as you say through your dismissive reply to yankspurs, as someone who defends Levy to the extreme. i thought id spotted also previous posts of a similar nature.

weve done reasonably well with most of our commercial deals, cant disagree, but our leaders fails to link success on the pitch to the exponential prospects of commercial success off it. he will take the dollars from ua, for eg, but fails to factor in theres hardly anywhere across the entire asian continent where our fans or potential fans could conveniently buy the kits. the board just dont join the dots up strategically.

i just wish for once he would take a knock on outgoings so we can get business done early this summer, so these friendlies mean a bit more on the pitch.

Much as I would love this story to be true (I'm a little closer than carpediem), I can't actually see anything on bild.de actually mentioning this.

Although the idea of playing Bayern or Real Madrid might be quite exciting, in all likelihood we won't be seeing their first 11. Does anyone remember that pre season tournament at Wembley a few years back, with Celtic and Barca? It was basically Barca reserves.

But still, better than Kaiser chiefs and Stevenage.

I don't deny that, overall, I think that Levy has been very good for Spurs. But I'm perfectly happy to acknowledge and be critical of his failings.

It's just that I refuse to stand aside and let people get away with posting nonsensical criticism of him about things that they know nothing about (e.g. what agreement Levy and Poch might have reached about this summer's schedule of friendlies) or clearly don't understand (usually finances).

If all the criticism of Levy was of the valid kind, I'd simply nod in agreement. Sadly, a great deal of it isn't.

I also find the whole BSoDL thing to have become incredibly tedious, lame, unhelpful and unnecessarily divisive (not to mention way past its sell by date) - so if I was dismissive of yankspurs, it was only because he asked for it!

With respect, I disagree. I think it most unlikely that Levy doesn't perfectly understand that commercial value depends very much upon success on the pitch. He's not obtuse. As to the difficulty of buying Spurs merchandise in Asia, I presume that you're talking about retail outlets (because I imagine that any fan could buy off the internet easily enough)? If so, it still comes back to success on the pitch. Retailers in Asia can't be forced to stock Spurs kit if there simply isn't sufficient demand. Can't put the cart before the horse.

Agreed. The sooner we can conclude our business the better.

Also, we'll be joint top of the league by the time we play these teams, so they will take us seriously too :)

reasonable stuff. on the availability of merchandise, ive popped in many nike or addidas outlets in the region, with the bigger ones stocking shite like newcastle, everton and even leeds. i would argue that pusuing a deal with either might not yield the most lucrative contract, but through visibility, brand alignment as well as the practicality of buying as opposed to ordering ex uk, would likely recover or even surpass the differential if viewed over the medium term. im boring myself though now so lets call kits a day.

before i go, though, could you see for example that pushing the boat out to buy benteke in the winter window might well have got us cl? proven, price tumbling, chairman wants out looking to fire the coach, we could have pulled it off im sure. spend big and only occasinally, on those who dont need to adjust much, like him. stadium, wage bill? nah, the tv money is there theres no denying. levy simply cant expect to buy low sell high on every asset. other chairman werent born yesterday, well some of them anyway.

AS confirm Tottenham, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan will play in the Audi Cup on 4th & 5th August. #THFC

Isn't that just a few days before the season starts...?

Nah about a week and a half before new season. Its a midweek tourney, season won't be starting until 15th or 22nd August. Last season it start around 22nd but maybe that was because of the World Cup?

Be a stupid move if we are playing in this, so that means we will play in it then. There have been more than enough games this season plus the end of season tour. Next season should see players playing in the u21 tournament and most likely Europe as well. Hopefully a lot of rubbish

Maybe Pochettino agreed with it. I know you dislike Levy but he shouldn't get the 'blame' for everything and anything.
