I'm sure our bald leader will have a plan:

DL to AVB: "PSG have met your release clause. What's it gonna be then Andre?"
AVB: "I'm....I'm sorry Daniel"
DL: "That's a shame, I did some things you asked me to do." *Willian, Moutinho, Isco, Fernandinho, Bernard & Damiao enter the boardroom in their Spurs shirts*
AVB: :eek::eek: *drools* "You've really gone and done it?"
DL: "Well, why else are they here?!" *Grins* "Just sign your new contract and they're yours"
AVB: *squats 3 times in excitement then signs the contract which eliminates the release clause*
DL: "Thankyou" *shakes hand* "Now, onto this lot, they'll be presented to the media tomorrow, just a few legalities to sort out"
AVB: "Legalities?"
DL: "Nothing major, personal terms and agents cuts all agreed and that, just the small factor of coming to an er........ 'agreement' with erm theirrrr"
AVB: "Go on"
DL: "CC....lubs. But rest assured Andre, if the worst comes to the worst i've been on the phone to the West Brom chairman, Chris Brunt is still available"
AVB: "FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU"
DL: *evil laugh*

Well now, I'm still not feeling cocksure about this but Baldini coming in is a big nod to AVB, Shirley? DL clearly likes the DoF system and has decided to dip his toe in the water again but he, quite rightly, got the guy that AVB has wanted for some time.

That alone should give DL another season I'd hope. Need old ginger nuts to sign that new contract soon though to cover us a bit more. I think AVB is doing the right thing. No need to play down speculation whilst saying absolutely nothing. We've heard that AVB has DL's trust a bit more but if AVB gets extra leverage from this to maybe give the board a gee-up in signing one or two players they might otherwise be hesitant to sign, then he has to use it to his advantage.

I think this sounds like there is something in it. Daniel Levy can't allow this to happen. Disastrous for him and club if it does

On what basis? Some guy on twitter who just a couple of days ago said it was Hiddink.

Forgetting the fact that I don't rate AVB in the slightest, what can the club offer him. We all know that Levy will give him very little to spend, if anything. Levy is commonly known as an out an out bar steward to work for, and will no doubt sack him if we don't make top 4 next season (which is highly unlikely). If he went to PSG he would earn twice the money, have an enormous budget, and has a great chance of winning trophies. Now, forget the fact you support Spurs, and ask yourself, what would you do ?

This would probably be his way of thinking were it not for his horrendous Chelsea experience, i'd imagine. Because what use is an unlimited transfer budget, etc. if you're constantly in fear for your job once you have a couple of bad results and have Zlatan sneering at you when you try to coach him?

I think you probably know, as I do, that AVB will be sacked next season if we don't make CL. He will have similar pressure at Spurs, but without the budget. AVB is ambitious and will take any opportunity he can.

From a personal point of view I think this great, because I don't think he is good enough for Spurs yet, and won't be for some years to come.

with a name like yours, you have already alienated about 50% of this board. If in your, obviously very valuable knowledge, you do not think AVB is good enough, perhaps you could enlighten us, as to your preferred choice of his replacement. I'm sure Daniel will be keen to read your thoughts.

The answer is, I wouldn't forget the fact that I support Spurs.

Still this sorry won't go away, would love Levy or AVB to come out and say its rubbish. Have to say the more it keeps going around the more convinced I am that this isn't just paper talk :bookworm:

This is one of those stories for which there are so many unknown variables that it's not worth getting your knickers in a twist about:

AVB is or isn't talking to PSG?
AVB is negotiating a new contract with us, is this leverage for that?
AVB has left previous clubs after a short time for perceived bigger and better clubs, does this mean he's more or less likely to do it again?
What's AVB's relationship with Levy, is he frustrated by our Chairman's approach to bargain hunting in the transfer market? According to JJ AVB was holding out for the totally unrealistic signing of Hulk last summer, does this indicate the guy's not got his head around the kind of club he's managing?
Is this a ploy by AVB to try and lever Levy into making a few more of the signings he'd like, and make them sooner?

Probably there's a dozen more questions for which it's impossible for us to know the answer, so like I say no point at all try to reason it out.

What will be will be.

On that note, consequences are almost never as wonderful or disastrous as we imagine them to be.
