It was just a typical pre-season error by Dawson. He's hardly played since the end of last season. Didn't even get any time in the World Cup team either. He's just lacking that bit of match sharpness atm that's all.

I really do hate that English commentator though. He absolutely drilled him after that mistake. I don't think it helped that the defence had never played together before. But the twat of a commentator wouldn't let go. If it had happened to someone like Terry he would still lick his arse and blame something else.

what a surprise.......Coyboy takes a contrary opinion just to try and create a debate. I wasn't suspecting that....

Don't flatter yourself Michelle, if I thought Zamora wasn't any good I would say so or say nout but he is, he proved it last season that he can hold the ball up, win headers and score goals from inside or outside the box. If he had been fit for the UEFA, Fulham may well have won it and he would have gone to the WC.

I said a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't mind us re-signing him.

Seriously, you are insignificant but if you say these condescending things about players who are actually quite good you have to expect retorts.

Zamora was good last night, I thought he worked hard and was unlucky not to score with a couple of attempts.

He played way better than Rooney has in the last god knows how many games for England.

Agreed, early in the half Daws did a fantastic sliding challenge to break up their attack and it didn't even get a mention.

Well I'm fine if they want to go over the top unfairly slagging Daws

Happy for him to concentrate on Spurs...sod England..

Young not too shabby , more enthusiasm here now for his transfer .

But we gotta get someone to take advantage of all our speedy winger's crosses..

I like what you did in the first part....belittle someone by changing their name into a girlie name. Impressive shit

Do not fool yourself......nothing on here is insignificant for you. You couldn't for one second resist answering my post. A post where i said absolutely nothing.

About Zamora.......nowhere did i say that he was a bad player. Even though he certainly shouldn't be good enough to play for England. But that might actually be another story.......or problem for Capello in the future. Especially with the remarkable demands from media and fans when it comes to England and results.

Now you're on your own with those demons upstairs Coyboy. Some of us have actual work to do

I am not sure what your point is then? I don't think it's funny or embarrassing to see Zamora in an England shirt as he is good player.

Think i have to agrre with Michelle on this one to an extent, if what he is saying is that we should have someone better than Zamora to play for England, then i am on side with that view. Why Defoe hasnt had a chance to form a partnership with Rooney continually perplexes me.

Just to pre-empt the retorts about a big man upfront, Owen-Rooney was successful for us and i see no reason why defoe shouldnt be the one replacing Owen....

Was Owen and Rooney successful?

For Rooney maybe - he just did his thing and was in great form - not really for Owen though

That said, I can see JD and Rooney playing well together, but Capello obviously doesn't

There's quite a lot of things Capello can't see...

quite happy for daws to just continue to be great for us, really cant get my head round england so the less of our players that are in the firing line the better i think.

jd, crouch and lennon all got extra time back at spurs lodge to work with our coaches and didnt have to take the added weight of seeing if they can 'compliment' the FA favs who shalt not be dropped. The squad this time seemed to me to be the core of the WC side and then all the unfashionable players swapped around.

Daws deserved a chance, cant understand why having been to the WC and not played he wasnt started mind.

is playing for england a poisoned chalice (ask robbo maybe)?

We should but I don't think we do. Be great if we had Villa.

I just think he has finally become an excellent player- a definite improvement on Heskey!

Coyboy's right. Zamora is a good footballer, who is one of the best in the EPL in that hold/link play for the team role.

And that was a very typical mistake by Dawson.

Zamora's good, but for the role he does, I actually rate Kevin Davies higher.

Are they a similar age or is Zamora the 'younger' option of the 2?

It also annoyed me when Townsend said "to be fair to Dawson, he did make up for his error when he got back to, in my opinion, clear off the line". But the other commentator just went silent and didn't even acknowledge it.

Daws did okay. He was a little rash, maybe it was nerves, but Jagielka wasnt too hot either. Glad he got capped, and hopefully he gets another chance soon.

England as a whole looked a lot better in a 4-5-1 than 4-4-2. Lampard should be dropped - him and Barry are far, far too static, and his presence seems to affect Gerrard. And on current Enlgand form Rooney shouldnt be playing, and I dont think he works too well as the lone man in that setup. I'd like to see Rooney given the 'Ozil' role. Zamora did well as a target man, then Rooney would be allowed to float out wide or drop deep. Would require a lot of work on the training pitch but would be an interesting experiement.
