25-year-old Tunisian left back, plays for Monaco, having signed from Toulouse last summer. They have had a pretty impressive defensive record this season...

Former Arsenal transfer target Aymen Abdennour has confirmed interest from the Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham.

The Monaco defender, who will face Arsenal in the last 16 of the Champions League tonight when his side travels to the Emirates, has also been mentioned in connection with a switch to Spurs in recent weeks.

And the 25-year-old admits he knows of Mauricio Pochettino’s interest.

‘Yes, I am aware of it. But I am at Monaco and I am concentrating on my club,’ he said.

But when asked if he would consider a future move to White Hart Lane, the Tunisian said it’s an option he would be happy to consider.

‘Why not? Right now I have to be patient,’ he added. ‘Things will happen naturally. I am not going to put any pressure on myself because I am very happy at Monaco.’

This would be a fantastic signing, he is a big strong CB with a good turn of pace. An absolute beast in the air and would be a very good solid addition to our back 4.

Not a fan.

Slide tackles his way out of positions far too often.

Played well tonight against a good forward line and away from home....impressed tonight.

Doesn't mean he's the man to sign...but if Mitchell and poch think he is... That's enough for me!

The Monaco defender that impressed me most in the Arsenal game was Fabinho. Usually plays defence but played defensive midfield in that game. Abdennour does seem to be wild in his tackles - but looked to be a good on-field leader.

Given the tax laws in Monaco i assume a first teamer from there would need to be put on a very big wage by our standards...

According to Monaco fans, he's shit, and being kept out of the team by Carvalho, who is 36.

Monaco fans are talking shit then ;)

He plays every week as far as I've seen and I've been very impressed when I've seen him play. Not seen Carvalho play once.

Less of a chance now by signing a new contract according to PA Sport

Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour has committed his future to the Ligue 1 club until 2019.

The 25-year-old Tunisia international moved to the principality from Toulouse last July and has since made 19 appearances in all competitions for Monaco, scoring once against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League.

Last month, Abdennour told Le Parisien he would consider a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but has now opted to remain with the French side.

Vice-president Vadim Vasilyev told the club's official website: "Aymen is an essential part of the group and we are very happy to see him commit to the club for another year.

"We are working towards strengthening the team for the future and Aymen's contract extension is part of that project.''
