Fact nobody else is in for him is surely an indication that this signing would be super risky.

Still prefer Lo Celso imo, but Fernandes clearly has talent. Just has to translate it to the Prem.
I don't think anyone else needs him apart from us and United. Liverpool could use a creative player but can't see them spending the best part of £50m-£60m on one.

Juve maybe? Can't really think of another top club in Europe who need him.

I’m probably being overly positive but the fact United have come out today denying interest makes me wonder if they know a team has already agreed a deal

What is the difference in Levy being in the USA or in London? The fact remains that deals are done from a distance 99% of the time. We don't need a carrier pidgeon to deliver a piece of parchment to confirm a deal has been done - we have this new stuff called Skype and private messaging.

The curb is on the other side of the car. Ask Pleaty.:)

He is a nice player. Whether he will be as effective in the PL as the Portuguese lead is difficult to know. There is a lot of people who simply want shiny new signings at the summer but this guys does make sense to me. I know less of GLC but from what I am told they could both certainly play in the diamond that Poch wants to play.
I never kicked up a fuss about the 3 windows when we didn't sign any players because i thought we we were good enough to get into the CL but last season was too close for comfort and we needed to make some signings to keep us in the mix. I don't think its unreasonable people would be disappointed by our inactivity. The saving grace is that none of the top six have significantly strengthened either and very little tier 1 business has taken place.

Were not going to finish mid table that's just nonsense. We will probably get top 4 again but if we don't make a couple of really good signings were not going to challenge for any trophies either.

Must admit I'm concerned that United and Arsenal have both taken steps forward in their respective squads and I'd say we are roughly about the same level depending how you rate adding Ndombele vs losing dembele, trippier, Llorente. Of course other factors such as players pre-seasons and the new stadium weigh heavily in our favour this time around but still a slight concern.

I don't think they really have, United have signed WB and may get Maguire who I don't think many would consider a tier 1 defender. Arsenal havnt addressed one single weakness, they strengthened their strength.

If anything this pre season has only gone to show how far Uniterd have fallen. Turned down by eriksen, dybala and de ligt. Not a single tier 1 player looking to sign and most of their tier 1 players looking to leave.

We will compete for top 4 but were not challenging for anything which has to be the most frustrating feeling in the world right now.

I thought the CL final would push us on. Status and reputation never been as high but if we fall away to just CL qualification again then I feel we lose our momentum.

Utd have to an extent with Wan Bissaka, James is good but they already had good wide forwards, and Maguire is obviously a good player, but they still have no worthwhile midfield and given Lukaku isn’t flavour of the month, no reliable goal scorer.

Arsenal, already full of good flair attacking midfielders, went and signed another one but still have as much steel as a pillow factory and a defence made out of butter.

Barring Wan Bisssaka, I really don’t see who makes it into our best xi from either side.

Then when we see that Chelsea have weakened, Liverpool have done nothing and City have signed a good midfielder but only really a successor to Fernandinho, not an upgrade (very hard I know), I think that even at this point we’ve comparatively improved the most. Maybe not enough to challenge City’s points haul from the last two seasons, but enough to make me feel optimistic about top 3 and a good chance of a trophy.

All that said, I do feel we have an opportunity to sign a real difference maker or two in the next week and if we don’t, I will feel deflated.

Yeah I don't think it's a question of have they now got better squads than us, because I'd say no absolutely not but more a question of have they improved from where they were last season, I'd say in both cases yes and as we saw last season it can take a bit of bad luck and you're in a slog for top4 so that's where the little bit of concern comes from.

I reckon BF and RS are our last two bits of business in all honestly I think we will sign BF only as it seems like the only transfer with the least amount BS going on.

If it's not done by tomorrow evening I think that's our window done.

I understand that. What I’d say, based on pre season at least (horrible diamond aside) is that we seem to be playing with more zip than at any point last season. I think the injection of Ndombele (even though he’s not up to speed) and the rest afforded to several key players will be huge.

Exactly true. Arse have financial restrictions without all the cl money and defiantly chelsea transfer ban) have there hand tied. United have a lot of BIG earners but still money to burn. But what is our excuse?

Obviously i hope we sign all the players, Fernandes and Lo Celso and Sess...........but imagine the end of window thread on here if things stay as they are :playful:

It'll be the most epic thread in the history of this site.

Still baffles me how people are naive enough to take every word Poch says seriously. It’s either that or interpreting it in the most negative way possible.
Think Poch deserves some respect that, maybe, from time to time, he does make serious comments.

The timing of United's statement regarding the BF transfer is curious as it coincides with the reported ITK regarding CE to them. What's the chances we've asked them to release a statement as such the keep a $$ of BF down, while we do so with CE to them.... almost like a deal typical to MLB three way team trade.

Reaching...or does this business activity exist in football too?

Interesting few days ahead.

Keep the faith and stay positive.
