Welcome to the Burnley Vs Spurs Match Thread! COYS!

We want to bring the joy back into match days as these threads have just become full of over the top from at least a handful of posters. While we understand and have the same frustrations on the team and the performances the constant beating on the same players for just being picked is tiresome the same with going over how we didn't get more players in during the transfer window. We would rather not limit peoples access to this thread, so please before you hit post just read your post back...

STREAMING SITES

We cannot allow the posting of links to Streaming sites/apps and as a result of that do not allow posts asking for them as they invariably result in someone posting a link. Please do NOT hint at having, post or ask for links to streaming sites. The latest 'clever' way around this is to drop hints. That'll have to stop too I'm afraid as again, it results in people posting links.

I endorse @chrissivad comments and instructions. I know its very hard to deal with the emotions that Spurs create, trust me I am not immune.

Saying that, I will go out on a limb and assume that now we haven taken all 6 points from the champions, it should give our team a well overdue boost, to know that we can beat anyone in this league. This should get rid of any lingering doubts or inhibitions, approaching the remaining games with the objective of winning them, therefore taking us into the much competitive 4th spot! COYS!

Same starting XI, then rotate as necessary v Leeds.
Wonder what the weather will be like and how it will affect game
Burnley XI looks capable of avoiding relegation, some good players there. None of the three results will surprise me.
Fascinated to see how FPs signings play, maybe he has found us some gems. Maybe...

Tough 2 games for me, Burnley away in the cold dark North is not my idea of a great night out followed by the energy zapping Leeds who won't give us an inch as they press the life out of us at the weekend after a clear week of preparation.

Both teams fighting against relegation.

I have tempered my expectations but not my hopes.

3 points would be so nice tonight. Put pressure on the goons tomorrow

Leeds go to Liverpool tonight so by no means will be fresh to press us hard on Saturday.

I dread any game after a stonking performance like last time out. Hope Conte can keep them focussed and avoid any complacency.

I dread this thread/site if we don't get a win.

There are people on here who are capable of being so much more complacent after we've put on a performance like Saturday evening, against the best team in the league. They're expecting it every game but unfortunately football just doesn't work like that.

I think we'll be fine tonight. The performance was enough to have the players buzzing for tonight. But I'd imagine Contes comments about this being perhaps the best group of players he's worked with will also give them even more belief/desire to keep up the hard work that they've all supposedly bought into.

3 points incoming, then take that confidence to Leeds at the weekend who, if I remember correctly, have a couple of key players missing in Bamford & Phillips?

It's a must win, as is Sunday. We have to get maximum points heading into the United game otherwise we could find ourselves too far adrift of them even with 8-9 games to go.

Looks like it will be wet and windy tonight. I guess Burnley are used to inclement weather, no idea if it will favour them
Am absolutely not getting sucked into Top 4 dreams. For me that was over months ago.
Just hope we win and see where that leaves us. It's all about Boro for me, when it comes to must wins.

Would like to think we'd win tonight after Saturday's performance but just no idea which Spurs will turn up. The Wolves or the City us? I'd like to see the same team I think. Probably need to be a bit wary of McNeil on the left crossing balls in for Weghorst. Did read somewhere he picked up a slight knock though so maybe he won't be fit? Either way I think we need to assume he's playing and their danger man, but would like to think our back 3 can deal with him. Either way, looking forward to the game!

Listening to Conte's pre-match interview, I think a lot depends n how well Bentancur and Hojberg recover after their exertion otherwise it will be Winks coming back in...

Yeah I read he mentioned that he'd have to see how they both are. As poor as Winks was vs. Southampton (can't remember if he played vs. Wolves), I'd much rather Winks play tonight than against Leeds if he has to play at all. Burnley won't heavily press in the middle and he is generally okay when he has time. Leeds will harry him far too much so maybe if there is any doubt about PEH or Bentancur after the weekend then I wouldn't be against one of them dropping out then coming back against Leeds.

Yeah that's my concern too. I'd be a lot more confident if we could field both Bentancur and Hojbjerg in midfield, with Kulu also playing, but fear we'll see more of the form prior to the City game if Winks comes back into a 2-man midfield and Lucas who doesn't seem to retain the ball as comfortably as Kulu, completes the front three with Kane and Son.

Also, we've all watched football for long enough to know it would be too typical to win at City then lose at Burnley. It's one of those fixtures that always seems to be tight, despite how much better we may feel we are.

Worried about Weghorst. Far too good to be playing for Burnley, still disappointed didn’t didn’t snap him up at some point in the last few seasons.

I'd rather rest one of Bentancur/Hojbjerg against Leeds than tonight. They'll attack us more so will be easier to get in behind, I can see us needing as much craft as possible tonight so at the very least Bentancur is a must.

Also play Kulu, someone who can drop in to pockets and create from deep, Bergwijn and Lucas wont do that.
