Gudjohnsen is still 6ft and was presence in corner/free kick and crossing situation and if I am not wrong, his aerial dual winning ability was fantastic ...

All 3 of drogba, costa and kane are similar height 1.88m. He also used adebayor as back up of higuain and benzema in real madrid .. He had eto/milito/pandev/balotelli at inter (Eto was short though but then again it was Eto who could play as winger as well) ...

Other than being 6 ft tall, Diego Milito was nothing like the kind of striker that you insist is the only type that Mourinho wants. Nor did Mourinho make him play in any way like that type. In that famous season with Inter, he scored just two headed goals - one when the ball bounced up in front of him a metre from goal; the other an unchallenged glancing header from a long ball forward. That's because Inter under Mourinho simply didn't target him as a header of the ball. They played to his feet or behind the defence.

In fact, if you look at the goals scored throughout Milito's career - and certainly at Inter - he rarely scored headers in crowded areas. Those headers that he did score were mostly unchallenged as a consequence of him finding clear space in front of goal. As such those goals owed far more to his movement than to his aerial ability.

Despite being a whole inch (arf!) shorter than Milito, Callum Wilson is a much more aggressive attacker of a lofted cross and is considerably more of a threat in the air in crowded situations (such as corners).

So, with respect, I make you wrong about this.

King’s contract apparently expires in less than 12 months. So would imagine that he would not be very expensive either.

Think we could do a lot worse than either Wilson or King as back-up CF.
Only downside to King is he doesn't tick the English box.

To be honest I'd be surprised if either wanted to come to a club where you wouldn't be guaranteed any PL starts, particularly as both are at their probable peak in terms of age, not sure we'd start either alongside Kane. Europa League might be a pull if we can secure it today though.

he’s still classed as homegrown came up through Man Utd’s academy iirc

Would be an excellent signing. Even better if they will take Parrott on loan for the season and actually play him

Could definitely see a pacy player like Wilson starting alongside Kane in certain games.

I think Kane would quite often enjoy playing slightly deeper (like a 10) where he could get more involved in build up play. Wilson would be a good foil for that too.

Has there been any real (non-DFS) ITK on this, anything beyond an article in the Sun? If there is truth in the report, then £10m for an English striker with proven PL pedigree is a no-brainer

Can’t see why some people are turning their noses up at this possibility. He could easily start 20+ games a season for us; there’s the issue of Kane’s habitual extended layoff each season because of injury, a plethora of league and cup games and the fact Mourinho is not shy of using a 442- or a variant of it.

He’s infinitely better than the dross we were linked with in the Winter window. Quick and powerful, we’d be really dangerous on the counter with him, Kane, Son and Moura/ Bergwijn

I would be surprised if this actually happened it will end up if they get relegated with Liverpool, City or Utd sweeping in and taking him

Bear with and I might have this completely wrong. His cousin delivered a bed for us and I am sure he said he was a Spurs fan. Hahaha

When we were linked in the past, it was said that his family and him are huge spurs fans. I came onto say that befors I even saw your comment.

In any event he is perfect for what we need.

Prem proven, different kind of striker to Kane, cheap and could not only be an understudy to Kane but could also play alongside.

This would be fantastic business. Llorente ended up proving valuable but I feel Wilson will end up offering a lot more in a similar squad role.

Not sure about City but I agree Liverpool and United will definitely be interested in both King and Wilson.

I remember people scoffing at the idea of Ighalo back in January, who’s gone on to score 5 in 16 for Manchester United, mostly as a sub.

Wilson is far superior to Ighalo IMO, and we’re not going to find any second-fiddle striker offering better value for £10m.

It's pretty simple for me: Wilson is Home grown, can operate on his own up top, works hard, and wouldn't serve as a huge block for Parrott if we signed him to something like a 3 year deal. I wouldn't really judge him on this season as Bournemouth have been so bad on the whole (It's why I think Ramsdale would also be a smart addition). I still would absolutely prefer an Edouard type signing, but I think that's pretty unlikely.

I don’t buy the notion that many strikers don’t envisage getting game time because Kane is a guaranteed starter. Going by the last 3/4 seasons it’ll almost be guaranteed Kane gets an injury and misses quite a few months. There’s no secret as to why this is. He plays far too many games and plays the full 90 in the majority of them!

We need able back up and competition to ensure we can perform 100% without Harry in our side and I think Wilson would be a very solid option for us. Wilson is coming to the end of his career and with his previous injury record he would be wise taking a move and being on a decent wage. I’m sure he will want to prolong his career as long as possible so moving to a club that will rotate him and give him the chance to shine on a relatively large stage would be one that’s very hard to turn down.

It’s interesting how many people bemoan the thought of Hojdberg, Wilson, Aarons etc. Then in other threads moan about Pochettino not being willing to compromise.

Mourinho is a shrewd operator even his least successful stints in management have seen greater trophy hauls than our last 20 years. The squad isn’t balanced, and we need it to be. Back him and see where we get. That’s the only way to fairly judge him

Think he'll be much more valuable. Llorente never suited our style of play and was someone to throw on when we were getting desperate, the fact that Poch left him on the bench even when Kane was injured tells you how difficult it was to fit him to our strategy.

I think Wilson would fit our strategy perfectly. A CF who can be alert and is quick enough to take advantage of our counter attacks. He seems to have a good conversion rate, which will be helpful and we don't need him to be like Kane in terms of build up.

Just good movement on the counter and around the penalty area.

If £50m-£60m is our budget and with gaping areas that need focus, most notably at DM, RB & CB, Wilson for £10m is a no brainier surely.

Chuck £20m towards Höjbjerg, £15m towards Kim, £15m on RB, preferably Castagne or Aarons if the club has genuinely seen enough in him to invest in and that’s a sensible and sound window given the pandemic situation mixed with not qualifying for the Champions League.

I can tell think of many more proven goal scorers happy to play the squad game at £10m than Wilson so honestly what’s the hassle people that aren’t keen on him? Ship him in, it gives us depth, options and more balance,
