He is not mourinho style cf ... He is short, not battering ram ... Rather just get back llorente who has got more to his game and will suit mourinho's style ...
Was waiting for this link. For 10m he’s a no brainer for me. I think he’d be a tremendous backup option for the price he’s quoted at.
Home grown, Premier League proven, England capped, and has been putting up close to an average of 10 Premier League goals a season in a bang average Bournemouth side [not to mention the 14G, 9A in 2500 minutes he had last season which was impressive].
He offers something different to Kane as he’s got more pace but he is still a pretty strong finisher both in the air and on ground.
Is he the best striker option on the market? No, probably not. But I’m struggling to think of any other striker that is 28 or younger and available for 10m or less that would be better for us than Callum Wilson. He could definitely do a job for us in the Europa League and the domestic cups and could be relied on for several more seasons.
I actually think he would be one of the better backup strikers in the league IMO.
Not to mention he’s a signing that poses very little financial risk as he’ll hold his value at 10m. If we loan out Parrott next season and he tears it up or if we return to a more competitive financial position in the upcoming window(s) and want to get a “better option”, we could definitely flog him off to another side for a similar [and potentially higher] fee.
Here’s a good montage of his goals for Bournemouth over the years without obnoxious music:
We literally have 0 back-up strikers bar someone who's barely played first-team football, and we're linked with a striker who has proven he can be very effective at Premier League level, and people are still moaning.
Seriously, who the fuck do you want? Who??? Milik? If Milik flopped, the same people would be abusing Levy for not signing someone who was PL-proven.
Fucks sake.
Interesting. He has been a ghost of his International call up showings this season. His lack of running, enthusiasm, effort and performances is the major factor in Bournemouth’s drop off this season.
live inBournemouth and talking to season ticket holdersat a bbq this afternoon, they were saying the best he could hope for was a Newcastle coming in. 4/10 for a long time. He’s not Mr popular down here right now.
Sam Sturridge came on for the last few minutes vs Ston and did more in injury time than Wilson did in 90.
£10m sounds cheep, but on he is a 5 goal a season showing at best right now.
Maybe we need a bench striker but I’d hope there was £10m towards a decent RB first.
I don't want a "back up" striker. I want someone who will do what Kane did, CHALLENGE the incumbent with good attitude, workmate and application. My preference would also be for someone who can be a foil for Kane and/or play across the front 3.
Don't care what country they come from, just want the best we can get, given our price bracket. As for examples, I'd take Edouard or Sarr rather than Wilson (especially as he's on a lot of money).
Typical Mourinho style CF has these three attributes that he craves:
1. Height must be 6ft plus.
2. Can link up play and pass the ball towards the channel to wingers or attacking midfielders.
3. Can score header from corners, freekicks and crossing situations and obviously need to bully opposition's two defenders with his physicality and height. He needs to win 70% to 90% aerial battle against opposition DM and Cbs when goalkeeper kick the ball towards opponent's goal.
Callum wilson doesn't fit in any of the attributes that mourinho craves in his CF. Callum Wilson is runner and finisher. He is similar profile to Jermaine Defoe albeit less finesse.
I would rather we go for Llorente if money is not there, or we should just get someone like Artem Dzuyba on free whom Mourinho likes and has same agent as Mourinho. Milik is not coming to Spurs as it seems so Dzuyba or Llorente is not a bad shout for free transfer.
If money is there, then I would just buy Vedat Muriqi whom I think is going to be huge if any PL club buy him. Perfect targetman, link up striker. Similar to Giroud.
This.
The talk of 'back up' is nonsense and if we are to actually go on and win things then we need to buy somebody that would come in and compete. Whether Wilson is capable of that im not sure. He's certainly a decent PL player but I can't really pass comment as I've not seen much of him this season.
levy won't pay the money required to persuade someone who can compete with kane to comeThis.

I think that’s a fallacy, he used to play Gudjohnsen at centre forward for Chelsea who wasn’t a giant but good at the other aspects you describe. Wilson is about the same height, has a good leap on him, is quick, knows where the goal is etc.
The only negative I can see is the wage he is meant to be on (£110k pw) is a lot for a back up striker but I guess we paid Llorente that so maybe it wouldn’t be a problem.
I bet there would be a lot of competition for him (Leicester, Arsenal, Everton perhaps) so I think we would need to qualify for European competition to guarantee him games.
injury prone maybe, but does being English matter? He’s poor. English and injury prone. No thanks.
He can’t be that skint, fuckers been on a 110k a week this seasonHe’s poor. English and injury prone. No thanks.
