Reports in Italy suggesting that Prandelli has stated his desire to coach in England, and due to his friendship with Baldini, is open to coaching Spurs. Teh link:

http://sport.panorama.it/calcio/Prandelli-Tottenham_Hotspurs-Baldini-Abete-nazionale

Pretty much says he's interested in us, and that Sherwood is most likely a temporary solution so we'd want to bring in a coach with a more international reputation. Also says that Prandelli is likely to be offered another 2 years by the Italian FA but would prefer to go back to club football, and that English isn't a problem as he speaks it already.

Not sure if he'd be suited to England but it would be fascinating to watch. One of the more tactically astute managers around, although sometimes a little bit too tinker-happy.

I think he's done very well with what is actually quite a limited Italy team.

Spot on. He took over Italy in a difficult time, where we'd peaked under Lippi and our key players were all old and ready for the scrapheap. He's done really well with us and got us playing very good football. My only gripe in his entire tenure was the final against Spain in the Euros. In the group stage we looked very comfortable against them in a 3-5-2 formation, holding them to a draw, but for some reason he went to a narrow 4-4-2 with 4 centre mids and we got hammered. Otherwise I think he's been very good. However, he played the 3-5-2 again against them in the Confed Cup and, despite being unlucky and losing on pens, we absolutely played Spain off the park.

He's also a very good man manager, unlike that egotistical prat Mancini.

That's interesting. Hopefully that means he isn't so stuck in his tactics that he wouldn't consider the actual players we have...unlike someone else we had quite recently.

Do you think he'd succeed in England?

Well he has his favourites, like every manager. He picks Gilardino every now and again for Italy because he likes him, despite being shite. However, every manager does that, it's unavoidable. Like most Italian managers he takes no shit, so he won't be happy if players dick him around. But as I said, unlike Mancini, he's not got an ego and can handle the big names. Put it this way, he's handled Cassano and Balotelli and got the best out of them for Italy, and that's not an easy task.

As for succeeding in England. Hard to say. Such a different game over here and he's never played here either. He's proven to be adaptable though at club and international level. I'd be happy if we got him, and I genuinely think that he'd work closely with Baldini to bring in the players he wants and needs. For once, we could get a coach who is in line with our transfer strategy. Unless, of course, Levy decides he wants to buy whoever the fuck he wants...

I have to say, taking a step back, it is really impressive that we are now rumored with managers like Prandelli and LvG.

10 years ago if you had told me (or virtually any other Spurs supporter) that we would be considering LvG or Prandelli i would have laughed in your face. Now it is almost expected that we would look at a manager of their level.

I do like Prandelli, i think he is a good tactical manager though he does strike me as someone who may tinker just a bit too much at times. I also wonder how we would adapt to England, word is he has SOME English but is by no means fluent (and apparently his staff are along the same lines), granted we have a fairly diverse international squad but it would be nice if he could speak to the players/staff/club officials/press in English.

This would give me such a raging football chubby. It would mean Franco, my beautiful beautiful Franco, was staying for starters...

Though handling Balotelli at international level will be considerably easier than doing so in the day-to-day cut and thrust of club football...

Totally uninspired by this rumour when you look at who's available this Summer. Prandelli has won nothing (apart from a Serie B title), couldnt care less if he's "friends with Baldini", we should not be making choices because it keeps Baldini happy. MEH

We've done the Show Us Your Medals route -AVB Redhanded Ramos, graham

We've done the international manager route - Santini

Can we just have someone who will win us the league and the champions league and the fa cup. I will happily forfeit the league cup to Wigan/Sunderland.

Who's with me??

Agreed. I'm not entirely certain as to who pulled what string in the summer, but I was and remain to be underwhelmed with some of our decisions in the transfer market last summer. I was hoping that with LvG or de Boer we'd have a new football director or at least with LvG he'd have the leverage to tell Baldini to go sit in the corner on some decisions.

I shouldn't say I'm opposed, as I'd certainly take him if the two Dutch guys decide on something else, but making decisions for Baldini's sake rubs me the wrong way (kinda like the Lamela acquisition).

I've said it before : get rid of the DOF position. It causes too many problems, whetrher it's the DOF choosing the manager (Commoli) or the manager choosing the DOF (Baldini/AVB).

Just choose the best manager available, whos is experienced, will command the respect of the players and whom Levy can trust. Then set him a transfer budget and general financial constraints. Then let him get the fuck on with it with NO interfence in football matters.

Yep, it does seem like the Monty Python 'you stay here and guard him' routine. TBH, I don't want hardly any more changes at all. Let's be boring and have some stability. Or is that radical?! God knows, it may work.

Cesare Prandelli could be announced as the new Tottenham manager before the end of May, says Paddy Agnew.
Reports have linked the Italy national team boss with a switch to White Hart Lane, even though Tim Sherwood is currently in the role.
And the Italian football expert revealed to Hawksbee and Jacobs, with Prandelli reportedly in talks with Spurs’ technical director Franco Baldini, the 56-year-old’s move to Tottenham to replace Sherwood could be announced before the end of the current Premier League campaign.

I'm sure he is 'in talks' along with Van Der Gaal but I doubt we will make a change if Tim finishes top four. It just doesn't make financial sense - and we all know Levy thinks of the pennies first! In his mind why employ a manager on big wages to get us top four if we can pay someone a fraction of the cost to do the same thing.
