No team should be taken lightly at this stage of the competition, but that is probably one the best draws we could have hoped for.

Nah, they were jammy ****s in the final.
Come on mate, my comment was obviously a joke. If we don't laugh at our own expense then what kind of people are we. Were Liverpool that lucky in the final though? They still had to control the game for 89 minutes after the penalty, and they did what they needed to do. I'd be proud of us having a gritty win like that, much like we showed against Wolves yesterday. Anyway, let's look forward to our next massive European game and hope the luck is on our side this year.

Five of Chelsea,Bayern,Dortmund,PSG,Liverpool,Atleti,City,RM,Barca,Napoli are going out. Thats some massive teams about to go out in R16.

If Mourinho had a dream draw & a pathway to CL finals, this would be it.
But equally, five of eight quarter finalists will be those same massive teams (the stronger half of them.) Plus either Juve or Lyon. The only superficially weak spots in the draw are Atalanta v Valencia, and us vs Liepzig.

So I think this is a measure of the strength of the draw rather than the pathway's easiness.

Leipzig has some very good young players that i wouldn't mind us bringing in to our team

Very happy with the draw, but looking at the fixture list, the six weeks from Feb to mid March will define our season - what with this winnable tie, plus City, Chelsea, Wolves and United.

Key is their form in Bundesliga in Feb. If they are still top of table their eye may not be firmly on the games. But regardless, Nagelsmann will certainly give us 2 proper games. It's going to be great tactical game for sure.

Is this the first Champions League match we actually face an opponent with less CL experience??

We have an 11 day break before the first game as winter break. Nice little warm weather camp perfect.

First leg
Weekend off before
Chelsea away after with Chelsea having midweek off.

Second leg
Burnley away before
Man United home after - United will have a Europa tie on the Thursday before if they beat Brugge.

Not liking the timing of the Chelsea game, otherwise not bad.

not for definite yet. they haven't created the split yet, and when they do 10 teams will be playing on the 8th, the others will play on the 15th

I was happy that we drew RB Leipzig, until I saw where they are in the league & what form they are in...:shifty:

Haha, just chatting to my Dortmund supporting mate here at work - apparently, for a few years, it was a common thing that Leipzig fans had to be segregated from practically all of the other team's fans for their own protection. Their fans will probably enjoy a nice quiet away game, though he did warn us that, when we visit them, he suggests not getting our hopes up too much.

It's always interesting to get the view from someone who gets the Bundesliga and while he sings Leipzig's praises, he still hates them too so hopes we kick the shit out of them.

Considering the possible opponents we could have drawn, then I you have to be happy getting RB Leipzig.

I would have preferred Atlanta, Lyon or Valencia, but hey, it's the champions league, to be the best you have to beat the best.
