Playing on the left side means he has to use his weaker foot, you can level a fair bit at Dier but his passing is usually excellent off his right foot.

My take on it is that Jose considers Sissoko’s work off the ball to important to sacrifice. It’s a shame as we’d be so threatening with the two of them linking up in midfield, but it’s perfectly understandable in a match as tight as this.
