Gallagher will be expensive and we're already stacked in midfield. If we have that sort of money I'd much rather try to get Bakayoko or similar, safe in the knowledge that Deki can cover at 10 if needs be and do it better than Gallagher. I don't see him displacing Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr or Gio as things stand so it seems an unnecessary signing to me. We also have Donley and Devine waiting in the wings.

I really think we have to look at him in Anges system and the fact that it seems he is directly wanted by ange. That alone speaks enough volume for me.

However, when I see him in the Sarr role it really seems to fit him like a glove. He plays simple, quickly, and has the motor to get into the box like Sarr has this season. I actually think he'd be better than sarr (at the moment) in the box as shown by his time at Crystal Palace.

We don't have a sarr alternative and look at our form when he was out. For me it's a no brainer and I think CG could be convinced with a phone call with Ange.

Saying, we should not help Chelsea with FFP isnt the right way to look at this.
If we get Gallagher, we are not helping Chelsea, but we are taking advantage of them.

He has been their most consistent player and probably 2nd best player in terms of impact behind Palmer. I would love to get him from that lot. But cant see it given our history.

Agree. If they choose to sell to us it’s for financial reasons and because they had no better offers.

Exactly this, he's great for the Sarr role and is miles ahead of him currently when it comes to getting in the box and finishing attacking moves off with a chance (goal or key pass) due to his experience and natural instincts.

If you're expecting Gallagher to be the key to your midfield's defensive set up or the creative hub of your attack you aren't using him at his best. But as a support player in both those actions and as a volume ball progressor (both passing and dribbling) he's not just good, he's elite.

Chelsea tried to force him into a number 10 or 6 role at various points the last couple of years and he looked shaky, but lo and behold Poch comes in and makes him more of an 8 and he's shining again.

I would argue we are not, given that I have little faith in the reliability of Bissouma & Gio and Bentancur's nearly missed an entire year through injury.

Reece James is injured and going to have an op to cure his ongoing hamstring problem ! (Off topic)
Gallagher is their captain- they won’t sell him !
That’s my point - he’s only captain in the absence of James. They’ll just make Tiago captain if they sell him which I suspect they will. Their owners are clowns, they won’t even consult Poch, they’ll just promise him a shiny new expensive replacement while booking 100% profit on their academy product.

I think you’re being extremely harsh on Bissouma. He’s had a rocky patch and a few daft red cards but he’s far from unreliable. I’d like to think he’ll learn from his mistakes and get back to his early season form.

I think Poch wants him to stay, the higher ups want to sell him. I think they do need to sell, but honestly I dont see many players in that squad that raise them decent money that want to leave or are worth an expensive punt.

No smoke without fire, this link keeps coming up.

He’d fit in really well to Ange's style of football.

But he’s vice captain under Poch so I don’t see him being sold tbh unless they really need the money.

Yup. For the right price (they over paid absurdly in many instances) there are several players I’d like here: Caicedo, Lavia, Gallagher, Mudryk, Palmer etc

But most have just been bought. It’s only really Gallagher that, like you say, they wouldn’t take an immediate hit on and is worth something.

It does kind of make sense if they need cash. Whether it makes sense for us, with a limited budget, is another matter

Displacing Gio?

Not sure on that one...

Yeah this is it for me. He's technically pretty good and comfortable on the ball (he's not Madders or Biss but better than Hojbjerg and Skipp from what I've seen), very hard working, a somewhat dynamic player that's happy to press, will get stuck in and can fill a variety of roles going forward and back. He's your box to box, move the ball forward (whether a pass or dribbling), defend on the front foot so your back 4 don't have to type of midfielder. I can see why Ange would want him and if he really does then the boss has more than earned the backing with the miracles he's done so far. I know Palace fans liked him a lot and Chelsea fans have been a bit hot or cold on him, but Chelsea have been less than stellar and this season he's been one of their best

It's another case of the squad needing lots of upgrades and £40-50m on him? That's a lot of money and surely there're smarter buys elsewhere (Udogie, Sarr, Vic, Biss, Maddison etc) even if he's homegrown. £30-35m would be a good price although Chelsea won't do that

When I’ve watched Chelsea he’s messed up a lot of promising situations in and around the box. Great energy and ball winning though.
I feel that's just Chelsea in general though. He had some decent output at Palace. Plus I feel he could provide cover and competition at both 6 and 8.
