I don't have a problem with this one happening - but I just can't see it working out for us financially. It will have to be late in the window - and we have to get a decent wedge for PEH.
Agree.

Hopefully we'll tie up deals for Dragusin and Werner. After that my guess is future purchases of any real money will only happen if we successfully sell a few.

He'll score and take his shirt off to reveal a Spurs top underneath. The lovely teal third kit.

They want 40 million for him. Money can be better spent
I’d argue it can also be worse spent…

He was mustard at Palace in a n.on8/10 role in a 4-3-3 under Vieria, I think he’d be the same under Ange and a seriously massive upgrade on Skipp and a decent upgrade on PEH who I like but who doesn’t really suit Ange's style of football.

CG is also still fairly young, really high energy player and homegrown.

I understand, but still say we can do much better

That’s not as overpriced as I would have thought, maybe they really are desperate for the FFP bump. I wouldn’t bite yet, but if Ange is still very keen, something like 30+5m towards the end of the window could be really good business for a homegrown kid our manager loves. Ripping the heart out of Poch’s mercenaries a fun side bonus.

I guess a lot depends on whether or not we want to wait until the summer to bring in another 8 type player.

If PEH buggers off this window, I worry we may be a little thin in terms of depth. As Skippy really doesn’t have a place in this team. Yet again was awful yesterday being played out of position. PEH was so much better when he came on.

So, if the Dane leaves, we have Benta, Skipp, and Kulu until the end of the month. Hopefully Madders returns toward the end of the month… And then Biss and Sarr reunite in Feb.

Ideally I’d like to see us bring in an 8 this window, (should PEH leave)… even if it is a loan.

I cannot tell a lie, and must admit I am a fan of this move. But also see why others feel we can do better.

Also, have a very hard time seeing Chelsea green lighting a move like this to a London rival. Then again, Boehly is a high functioning idiot…. So weirder things have happened.

I suppose it depends on where the HG spots get filled and if he's one of the best fits to compete in the Sarr position (8), and what other alternatives are out there, I'm sure we could get a better technical player but maybe not as good an engine and vice versa.

Why not both? We could do with another homegrown like with Johnson but still find great deals in other areas as well. I'm not sure we necessarily need better in midfield since we have strong options in there. He's much better suited to the team than Skipp and Hojbjerg so 40m is really not that much. Plus we'll make a bit back selling him to another Premier League club down the line.

Have to agree.

I think he'd be a good option to have to press, set the tempo and cover ground. He may even chip in with some goals and crosses like he did at Palace.

However, with Sarr st to nail that role down, I don't think we should be spending that money on a player who is likely to be in and out of the team and probably not needed against low block teams.

Would rather we get an 8 who has more offensively or more creativity.

With us hopefully signing Dragusin this window and taking Werner on loan while covering his full wages it's hard to us having enough cash left for Gallagher. Would really like us to get him but unless we sell PEH and bring forward some of our summer budget I just can't see it happening now
agreed, but i will say that we got rid of Lloris and Dier wages which would be decently substantial. If we move PEH then yeah i think a CM is coming in, but it really feels like those two will be the business done for the window. This isn't a complaint by any stretch as Summer window is when teams can really make moves for first 11 players.

Let’s be honest… if he weren’t English, we’d not wanna sign him. That should be enough

Counterpoint is that we and almost all fans underrated Prem experience, and tend not to value being able to pretty much eliminate the could-completely-fail-to-adjust factor for a prospective signing
