Globally footballers are shitter now than they were 20+ odd years ago. You can name 5/6 genuenly great current players. Back then there were loads, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Figo, Zidane, Del Piero, Totti, Batistuta, Klivert, Raul etc etc
I'd suggest that your perception is skewed by the bar of what is considered "great" being raised with each passing decade / generation.

For example, you've mentioned Kluivert, but I would put Kane, Haaland, Benzema and Lewandowski above him in a heartbeat. Haaland, at only 22 years old, has already scored more goals in professional football than Kluivert managed in his entire career!

The new stadium is the only thing that’s happened to us in our recent history.
Every time I see your avatar in the corner of my eye I think it's a baby's pram.

More like there are so many good players now due to the standard across the board increasing...

That's the same as I said, just in slightly different words. 😅

The bar for what's considered great has been raised by the increase in standard across the board. A play has to be "more great" to stand our as "great", compared to in past eras.

Players like Eriksen and Son would have been held in much higher regard by non-Spurs fans had they been in their prime 20 years earlier.

Unpopular as it may be, I really think Davo is going to do well under Ange. He’s much better playing in a high line than a low block. He’s much better suited to it than dier/Davies/Tanganga and it’s pretty much what we bought him for…

I don't care one bit about sexy attacking football, just winning. I actually believe it's a chimera that keeps the club from stepping up.

He looked slow as fuck in the last home game. Lost a yard by my the look of it. Could just be a lack of fitness but looked far from quick and so a high line probably doesn’t do him any favours.

The problem is no one wins anything now with dinosaur football. Besides I want to enjoy going to games again. It’s become a chore recently.

On the flip side of that, 60k booing fans can make your legs a little heavy. He seemed to be at rock bottom with form, confidence and support.

I think this is unlikely for 2 reasons.

First, we are probably selling him this summer.

Second, if we don't sell, I think he is very suspect in a back-4, with an oddly poor ability to track aerial balls.

Hey man, this is a safe space for unpopular opinions, take your reasoning elsewhere lol
