Been wanting JWP for 3/4 years.
Get him and off-set the cost with Eriksen for free.
Betancur/Skipp/ JWP/ Eriksen any 3 from 4+ Doherty
with Hojbjerg and Winks for squad
Sell Royal/Winks or Hojb jerg if you like.
send Reguilónn back
Quality and experience, Prem ready

Use them to go towards the cost of JWP.

Ideally id prefer a creative CM rather then an AM but considering money is obviously going to need to be stretched then Eriksen.

The same way you find ways to relentlessly defend the creative skills of Ndombele & GLC?

Except JWP actually does score and assist.

Good times!
Quite funny because they both have better output per 90 in terms of goals and assist :ROFLMAO:

Ward-Prowse has 4 assists from open play for Southampton since 2017/18. Hojbjerg has the same amount of assists for them in basically half of minutes and there isn't one person that would describe him as being creative. He is worse in basically every possible statistic of measuring "creativity" than Hojbjerg at Soton, Romeu at Soton and every Spurs midfielder we currently have in the squad.

Anyway even if you count taking set pieces as creativity he's much worse than Eriksen.

He's doing pretty well on the chances created stats, especially for someone who plays deeper than many on the list.

money no object? Ward-Prowse. Considering we need 5 or 6 at least in the Summer and Eriksen is free then it's CE all day long.

I would caveat this with: "CE if Conte is here, and we are backing him in other positions. JWP if Conte has left, and we had to sell Kane..."

Missed the boat on JWP. Had our chance this past summer and some absolute shrewdies on here said he's basically another Harry Winks. He'd cost a fortune with the contract he just signed.

So Eriksen.

Eriksen. A better player than JWP and that's even before considering that he won't cost the £40+ million transfer fee that Southampton would no doubt demand for Ward Prowse.

LOL, there was no boat,

He signed the contract last summer.

How people rated him on here had absolutely no bearing on us buying him.

JWP. Good at linking play, better at set pieces, younger. And Eriksen was desperate to leave us before. Why would he be desperate to return? So he could phone it in on a higher salary? If we got a fully committed Christian, then maybe it would be worth considering. The old adage about never go back comes to mind. Much why I'm not keen on MoPo returning either.
I think he would turn it on for us again. His head was turned because he wanted madrid or Barca, he was truly good enough for those teams but he was never a "big" enough player for them to sign. AKA he didn't have the penache or off the field instagram following and shit like that to ever go to either teams. Since he (sorry to sound so harsh and gnarly when i say this) died on the field. Going to one of the massive clubs ended right then and there. But he could come back to us, play in champions league again, make more money and really push to get back to his best playing days.

Can we sign SMS instead of WP?

Tall, tatted up, sexy Serbian name and least importantly.. far better footballer. This is the creative midfielder thread isn't it ?

He'd be the most expensive signing in our history, by far, in a position we're not desperate for

Of course there was a fucking boat. He was going into the final year of his contract. That was the boat. The time to try and sign him. Now it's a pointless discussion. Southampton can slap a 75m price tag on him and that's good night and good day.

Strange how there was never any information suggesting he was looking to leave.

Arguable, wouldn't be our number one upgradable position, but are we desperate for abit of midfield guile and creativity? Probably

Not very similar players so unlikely their signature would be mutually exclusive - Eriksen is your typical playmaking 10 and JWP is your typical 8 with superb dead ball abilities.

If I'm Paratici and it's one or the other, I'm signing Eriksen on a free transfer versus the 40mm+ it would likely take to pull JWP out of Southampton. While Eriksen couldn't play in a double pivot like JWP could, he would still give us the option to have a creative 10 in a 3-man midfield. And if we do have the funds to shop for JWP I'd be gunning for Kalvin Phillips instead.
