Ceballos is playing as the notional tip of Spain’s 3 man midfield but they are playing extremely interchangeably. He’s popping up all over the pitch, picking up the ball of CBs as well as combining with the attacking players further up the pitch.

Wait, hasn’t Ceballos said he wants to stay at Madrid? ??‍♂️

Think he said he didn't want to leave, but wants to feel important. Think the only change we have is to loan him for a season and try and show him that we want him to stay. Slum chance but only one I feel we have.

He's showing excellent work rate. Also great feet to keep resist the press and he's always making himself available for his teammates. Spain aren't playing with a natural no.9, so not as many runs from behind the German back line but you can see Ceballos wanting to play a through pass to the striker.

If Eriksen wants to go, we could do a whole lot worse than Lo Celso and Ceballos.

Eriksen for Ceballos plus 35-40M?

You basically turn Eriksen plus 20M into the both of them and get 5 years younger.

Ceballos involved in the 2nd goal. Made a good run, retained the ball and worked it to player for a shot, which was spilled by the keeper and on rushing player finished it off nicely.

Talking in extreme hypotheticals here but let’s say the summer midfield equation is Eriksen out and Ndombele, Lo Celso, and Ceballos in. I think we’d shift to more of a 4-3-3 as Lo Celso and Ceballos naturally play deeper than Eriksen.

A midfield three made up of Winks, Dier, Ndombele, Sissoko, Ceballos, Lo Celso, Skipp, and maybe Dele would be extremely versatile and allow us to mix and match very effectively for different opponents. Something we definitely can’t do currently.

We don't have the wingers to play 4-3-3 unless we bring someone in really. Son and Lucas are about the only 2, but Lucas has been much better through the middle since joining. If we do show a concrete interest in Zaha then I'd be thinking we may be looking to play a 4-3-3.

I'd also wonder where Dele would play. He really doesn't suit it when playing in a midfield 3 for England.

Dele is a positional conundrum. I think he probably needs to be one of the front 3 in that scenario, but on the side where you’d expect a lot of overlap to his outside so he can end up more central. He needs to be in and around the box.

I have a feeling we'll decide to go in for him if he's truly valued at around 30m as our backup playmaker to either CE or GLC.

What I have seen and it's not been much Ceballos doesn't have anything special about him.
I'd rather have Ascesio

Nothing special? He’s a fantastic player. Creative, quick feet, can find a pass in a packed defensive.... gets stuck in and can finish.
