Does anyone know what Bents highest league finish is?

You can build a team round Bent and he will score goals, but make no mistake you'll have a shite team.

05/06 – 13th - Charlton
06/07 – 19th - Charlton
07/08 – 11th – Spurs
08/09 – 8th – Spurs
09/10 – 13th – Sunderland
10/11 – 9/10 – Sun/Villa
11/12 – 16th Villa

I think he's the very definition of mediocre!

Some of you guys. Jeez. You know nuffin' 'bout football.

How could you not want more of this? ;)

This prompted the infamous 'Sandra' comment from Harry in the post-match interview, iirc.

And this prompts probably my main problem with Darren Bent

The fact he took exception and had a little bitch fit about the comments made about the miss

The man is a professional footballer, it was a bad miss. If he's not big enough to take a comment on the chin and use it as motivation to show what he can do next week then he can fuck right off

The last thing I want at our club is a little bitch of a striker who runs and cries because someone took the piss out of him, does he think he's too important and above such public criticism because he's a rich football? well I don't and the bottom line is these players are paid fortunes to play this game and they should be man enough to accept comments like that and use them as motivation to come back better and stronger

Darren Bent is a bitch and I never want a little cry baby like him playing for our club again

He would be good fit for our favoured formation playing one up front. But I still have nightmares from his last spell with us!

Defoe has 10 in 16 starts. If we want a striker who is primarily about goals then we already have one.

The step up is someone who offers more.

No, it wasn't. 18 goals in 60 appearances isn't exactly shabby (Defoe has 83 in 238), and if I recall correctly his conversion rate was a very decent 1 in 5. The problem was that there was a big imbalance between home and away. He wasn't much use against massed defences at the Lane.

That said…

No, he wouldn't. There is a reason Lambert is playing Benteke as his one up front. Bent is lazy, makes poor decisions, and puts pressure on the rest of team by losing possession. He makes the current Defoe look like the perfect centre forward.

Probably available in January for knock down price,i believe he is a good goalscorer and would suit our system better this time around. He played his best football in the counter attacking Charlton team. I know everybody would like the Cavani's and falco's in this world but being realistic we could also stretch to another midfielder if we got Bent cheap enough.
