On sport.es they're saying Villa may be included in a Rooney deal...

http://sport.es/es/noticias/barca/operacion-tres-bandas-por-rooney-2477349

Spanish papers trying to pretend that Barcelona aren't about to get buggered out of a deal for Thiago.

Which they totally totally are.

Thiago has a release clause of 17m, if Barca decided they wanted Rooney it'd be a different transaction altogether seeing as United don't have to negotiate with those "mes ques un club" pricks at all for the Spaniard, they agree terms with Thiago and then just give them the money to seal the contract, same as what Bayern did to Goetze. Complete non-story.

Villa won't be included in a Rooney swap to United, just sounds ridiculous. Lazy journalism at its finest.

Pfft. As much as I love Villa, he's not what United need or want.

If I had to guess where he's going to end up, I'd say Spurs. Oh and I'm one of the biggest pessimists around, so that's saying something.

Didn't realise he only hard a year left on his contract. Regardless of how good he is the reported 8.6 million for a 31 year old with 1 year left on his contract seems too much... Not surprised Levy doesn't want to pay. Really really we get him but I can't blame Levy for holding out for at least a bit longer to get a better price.

This has probably been done somewhere in the previous 88 pages but casa means house. Villa means country house (or villa) :)

Does it occur to anyone else that Levy is playing hard ball on the price because he knows Villa is all wrapped up on personal terms and has decided to come to us?
Can't help thinking he is playing a strong hand and that seems the obvious conclusion.
Aha ! As I'm writing SSN just said Villa's agreed a deal with us in principal according to the mirror, ah well there you are then.
Moot point I guess.

Remember, we are not buying Villa for his 'legs' - that will come from the rest of the team (Sandro, Paul etc).

We will be buying his craft which does not diminish so much with age - think the games we are dominating at home and need to convert draws to wins.

I reckon you could get a good decent two years from this - and it is f ing David Villa

Doesn't mean he won't drop us if someone bigger comes calling though. We may be in pole position at the moment but we're not a big enough draw that players will want us and no one else.

I can understand Levy using the fact he'll be a free agent in 12 months as a bargaining chip but it's a risky game. For me, if Villa wants to come we should be a little more willing to meet Barcelona in the middle. There's a time and place for Levy's poker games and imo this is not one of them.

Anyway, its only early July and whose to say that we'll not come to an agreement soon.

"think the games we are dominating at home and need to convert draws to wins." Could not agree more! Think WBA, Norwich, Wigan last season, this cannot happen this season! Those needlessly dropped points would have us in the CL now instead of being behind the damn goons again!

This article definitely outlines many of my own concerns. I hope Villa does hit the ground running but he wouldn't be coming to us if he was the same Villa of 4 years ago.

Yea they seem to be pretty valid concerns. Although Villa's form isn't what greatly concerns me right at this minute, it's mainly just that he's 32 later this year. That's far from me saying I don't want him, because that wouldn't be accurate, for me it's just a shame that if we do happen to see one great season from him we might not see many more.

I'll take one great season from DV as opposed to another dead rubber from JD and Ade!

Yea for sure, me too. Like I said it would be more of a shame than anything if we didn't get a few good seasons from him (should he sign) because when you see a player performing well you want to look forward to seeing more of it. Anyway, these are only concerns, they may not even be an issue.

I used to feel like this but sod it, its time to live in the now. We've slowely been building for years and I'm all for just going for it this season whilst we still have Bale.

That article echoes my concerns too; I think his name is preceding him to a degree.

Remember a guy called Edgar Davids. Similar could be said of him, yet his arrival was really beneficial to our development. Villa would have a similar impact imo.
