According to reports Liverpool are going to offer him a contract. Would it be worth hijacking ....

I thought he had signed for an Aussie club. I know we had a thread in the rumor section for him. However, since we've handed in our 25 man roster, can we change it? I would assume, even if we did hijack the bid, he could play until January.

There was a thread on him yesterday. Apparently he hasn't yet signed with Sydney FC.

we'd piss off liverpool even more if we signed him. how many players would that be that we stole from them?

A player with his quality could be nothing but positive for the squad especially the younger lads but I think has has signed for an aussie club

My god no, people say brads over the hill and he's a keeper, Del Piero ain't much younger. A real legend of football remember watching him on a Sunday on channel 4, luved the guy. IMHO he wouldn't cut it in England now, I know people will say he was never quick, footballing brain etc but I think it's a season or 2 to late. Let him go out to pasture in Oz, plus the guy will be on well over £100k a week.

Yeah but that could be revenge for them nabbing the likes of Johnson, Cole, Downing and Carroll when we've wanted them! Wait a minute....what exactly is my argument here!? ;-)

Watched him play at Udinese a couple of years ago and even then he looked pretty horrible. A shell of the player he was. And yet, I'd still be tempted purely to give everyone a lift and to have his experience and leadership rub off on our younger players. Even when Beckham came to train with us, that seemed to leave a positive impression on our players so having a player like Del Piero at the training ground and in and around the squad every day can't really be a bad thing.

Agree that he'd be great to have around the squad BUT he'll want to play aswell which is where the concern is.
Unless he's brought onboard in a coaching type capicity.

:wideyed: Just no.

I get IOMLS point about experience and the lift it could give the lads but I'm not so sure Del Pierro would even provide us with that. He is very much a spent force, and has never struck me as the Beckham/Davids-esque model pro.

Conte got him looking far fitter last season and he scored some very important goals, he also totally owned Roma in the Coppa Italia and made Kjaer look like a schoolboy.

Don't think the PL is a good fit for him at this point in his career though.

as a player now , NO, but if he is coming n as a coach that could play if we have no fit strikers then yeh, but ot as a player only.

Haven't we already named our 25 man squad?

Or are we gonna sneak him in as a somewhat mature looking 17 YO?

Del Piero not a model pro like Tattoo Becks? Are we thinking of a different Del Piero, not the one who still played many games for Juve at 37 rather than putting himself out to pasture in LA?

Not a chance in hell...we've already got Brad with his zimmer frame between the sticks, at this rate our new state of the art training facilities will becoming a new state of the art retirement home.

Let Liverpool take him, it really does emphasise how desperate they really are.
