It's been extended by 1 year.

Each new contract replaces the old one.
So in January 2015 he signed a 5 year deal which says in return for playing for spurs we pay him x amount.

In January 2016 he signs a brand new 5 year deal with improved terms. It rewards him and gives us a little security by protecting his rising transfer value.

So it's never really an "extension" rather a replacement contract.

Think the numbers have been guessed incorrectly, there is no way he was on £10K IMO, saw the article from his Mother who said he was on around £25K, my speculative guess is he was on about £20K with a £5K appearance bonus, probably doubled now.
