We played in second gear today, clean sheet and job done, sometimes you just have to win a bit ugly, the top sides do it on a regular basis, hopefully next season we can as well.

anyone any idea of what happened between Dawson, Gus and Wendy? And what the ballboy said to Chimbo to make him laugh like that and have to tell Kaboul?

I think Ramos and Gus wanted Dawson to continue.

I noticed Chimbo's laughter as well. That guy was laughing for five minutes.

While we're on Chimbonda. What a good game he had. I really think he's underrated nowadays, especially after the arrival of Alan Hutton. I want to keep Chimbonda. He's versatile and can play both full-back positions and as a CB. And he's bloody good, if you ask me.

I agree,

I think there has been a lot of crap said about Chimbonda over the last year.

Interesting that it would seem that Ramos prefers a RB who some say is crap defensively out of position at LB over other options available to him.

Lot's of people on FTL seem to think that Juande and Gus weren't happy with Daws seemingly being so eager to get off, as if he was avoiding the chance to get a yellow card.

Job done. Tough 1st half due to the awful state of the pitch (or maybe it was the awful state of the stream I watched) and having to play with Boateng in the team - although he did knock over Savage, so a plus there . But once Derby had worn themselves out we took command with Berba leading the charge.

Whether he likes it or not, Chimbs has found himself a slot at LB. O'Hara impressed again once he stopped kicking lumps out of them. Hutton looks like he's been there for years. Lennon's energy was amazing, just needs to tack on a final ball or shot. Keano, 20 goals, nuff said. Kaboul settled back in quickly, can he partner Woodgate? JJ came into it once KPB was yanked. Sorry Robbo, but Cerny looks as solid as ever. Steed gave 110% again, seemed to be getting special attention from Savage.

Happy.

Where is King?!? Any official news? The silence is deafening.

He's was given a rest today according to the official site.

Some think he's injured. Some believe Ramos and the club will not play him until the CC final. And one or two still think he's dead.

Good match today, just finished watching DVR; we looked a little shaky in the first half, like we didn't know what to expect but I don't think there was ever in doubt as to the outcome. No Leds, hope he is being rested and not knocked or being held hostage somewhere. Defense held the line despite the early injury, and Kaboul scored a goal!! Nice to see the lad do well. Good performance all around I'd say.

I thought Ramos made a rare mistake today. I won't bash Boateng, but he was the wrong player imo, to partner a newly resurgent Jenas, it's no surprise when we saw the entirely more pragmatic and disciplined O'Hara take the field that the team and the front five (in which I include JJ) begin to cause real problems. Of course Berbatov had a lot to do with it too, but I think it was the over all balance which improved as much as anything.

In conclusion then, a small minus point for the original line up but kudos for correcting it and crucially doing so early enough to make a real difference.

Perhaps Juande was taking the opportunity of playing against a weak team to give Bong a run-out in the starting line-up to see how he'd do?

I think that's probably it, but then imo maybe he should have rested JJ? Especially after his exertions midweek.

Like I say though it's a minor quibble and it's great to see him eschew the orthodox "give em 60 minutes" theory of substitutions and make the change early enough to have a real impact.
