This doesn’t line up with the ITK saying somebody who can play with Kane and also provide backup.
Kane can play deeper with Costa as the CF. With his passing and ability to score outside the box it would probably give Kane more space. That's the good thing about Kane he isn't limited to CF .

Im confused would people really want Callum Wilson, a man who has hit double figures in the PL once, over Costa?
Yes Costa has been poor, but with how Simeone sets up now, it's hard to be prolific. He's already won the PL twice, we need someone with that know-how, not someone who just got relegated

He’s always setup this way and has always had prolific strikers. If there’s one position that succeeds offensively under Simeone it’s their strikers.

Costa scored 27 goals in one season under the same Simeone set up when he was actually good. Or 10 goals and 7 assists season before. He isn't good now and every Atleti fan will say that. Now he's being outscored by their defensive midfielders.

Callum Wilson right now is better option.

He was abysmal vs RB Leipzig, probably a net negative as he was easily bodied by Upamecano and Mukiele. Sure we have good memories of Costa and he can still provide the ~want~ to score the goal but his pace is completely gone, he’s clumsy, and he’s only slightly better than Troy Deeney at being a shithouse. Honestly that’s a pretty good comparison for him at this moment, and we all disliked the Deeney idea.

would be very disappointed.

This is almost 100% an agent trying to sell his player piece but since people won't stop asking here's a thread for you to argue about King Shithouser.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho could be reunited with Diego Costa after Atletico Madrid put the former Chelsea striker up for sale.

Costa helped Chelsea win two Premier League title under Mourinho between 2014 and 2017, and the pair remain in close contact.

Spurs are in the market for another centre-forward to provide additional firepower alongside England captain Harry Kane.

Mourinho has been linked with a swoop for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, but Tottenham have yet to make a bid, with the Cherries expected to demand a big fee.

Costa would be a much cheaper alternative, as the 31-year-old is into the final year of his contract with Atletico.

Premier League games all set to be televised as Saturday 3pm blackout lifted for season

Tottenham are believed to have concerns over his age and fitness - as well as his form, with the Spain international having scored just five goals last season.

However, he would add aggression to a Spurs team which Mourinho has often criticised for being too soft, and is understood to be open to a move to north London.

Costa is one of several players Atleti have put up for sale, with the La Liga side keen to cash in on Costa rather lose him for nothing next summer.

Mourinho would face competition for his signature from Benfica, who have enquired about the player’s availability, but they are not the only other club interested.

Spurs have already brought in midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and goalkeeper Joe Hart this summer, and look set to sign Wolves full-back Matt Doherty in a £15m transfer which should be announced in the coming days.

But Mourinho is also keen to sign a centre forward who can not only provide competition and back-up to Kane, but also another option as Tottenham face the added commitments of Europa League football next season.

He’s only 31? Sheesh I was sure he was 45 for the past 10 years

Would absolutely love him here because I love a good shithouse but I can’t see it happening for a few reasons.

We need a backup striker, I see that. But let’s set our sights a little lower. We just need a guy to plug in and do a job.

And when Kane gets injured and Son is away with Korea ( or gets sent off stupidly again and suspended) etc.

The “set our sights low” and “just do a job” mantra is one of the reasons we’ve won fuck all for years.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from DL and being greedy, but I really feel like we need 2 back up strikers so we can truly protect Kane

Well I've read the Suarez, Costa, Higuain, which one debate.

Why wasn't Dzeko added in the equation. He's still finding the net regularly in Serie A.

Yep 34, but I reckon a couple of seasons wouldn't be a stretch too far.

Henrik Larsson went to UTD age 34, admittedly only a short term loan, but he was already playing back in Sweden in his twilight years. Dzeko is still performing well in the Italian top flight.

What about Ibrahimovic, he was about 34 when our now manager took him to United.

Seen a few snippets suggesting Roma could well be prepared to let Dzeko leave for circa £13 million.

If he's still up to the rigours of the league, and prepared to come in and understand his role within the squad, then I for one think he should most certainly be included in the hypothetical, who would you pick game.

Everything indicates that Dzeko wants to stay in Italy. I don't think it's a goer.

tbf. Costa is now a player who wouldn't be going to any top team as a starter. He wouldn't be such an ambitious signing. Now we have doherty as home grown we can go for a non HG striker, and he would be a good option. But, he isn't the costa of a few seasons ago.
