Glad you started this thread, I was too scared.

Sounds like pie-in-the-sky but he'd be a hell of a short term (18 months?) signing.

We have to accept the reality that Kane is not getting any younger, and it seems like he's out with injuries once or twice a season now for significant periods of time.

It shows we're too reliant on him, and while he'll always be our number one choice, it would be nice to be able to rest him every now and then, and be confident bringing him off to preserve his legs.

Cavani could certainly do a job in that regard, I guess it's a case of firstly whether he'd want to, and secondly whether Levy would sanction astronomical wages for a second striker.

a) Pay the wages and qualify for CL and the money that brings in
b) Don't pay the wages, miss out on CL and the money it brings in
c) Pay the wages, miss out on CL, the money it brings in and have a bigger wage bill

We all know Levy is thinking option C makes option A too big a risk!

I think he would be perfect for us for 18 months, a wealth of experience, a winner and would be perfect to help Parrott and even Kane improve

Won’t happen, but ver much should happen if we have any ambition or brains.

Obviously it’s not a long term signing, but the club’s recruitment has directly put us in a position where we need short term fixes. We’ve no one to blame but ourselves so it’s up to us to fix it and Cavani makes perfect sense.

Yes we’ll have to throw money at him, but sometimes that’s what it takes.

People have read the article right?

Edinson Cavani had also been mooted but his likely wage package would be far too high, especially given any striker would still be second choice to Kane in the long term.

Cavani would tick a lot of boxes. Assuming there would be a minimal fee at most this would be a cracking signing IMO. Probably looking at a 18 month contract at which point we'll know if Parrott is ready to step in. Sky high wages but could potentially be the difference between european football or not. Hits the right notes in respect of ambition and he is a perfect striker for Jose. A mobile, physical beast of a ST. Surely wouldn't be much different outlay to what we did for Llorente, considering the fee was around £15m and wages around 80-100k for him.

We will be an attractive offer too. First choice for 3-4 months with a CL round of 16 tie to look forward to. Do a mad one Levy.

Would be interesting if any ITK comments now the name is out there, because the report kinda suggests it's a non-starter when it it surely worth considering.

This is one of those threads that you click on knowing nobody actually believes it will happen :(.

If he wanted to go to China, or wherever, in the summer he'd earn an eye-watering amount of money for his 'retirement'.

But if he still has the hunger to win something of note (PL or CL) then he'd stay in Europe, so you never know.
