When spurs are on tv I’ll watch it if they win, if they lose it’s off as soon as final whistle goes
I don't even do that. Switch on at KO, off at HT, on second half, off at FT. I'll stick to Spurs channels for post match interviews and stuff.

Kane is one of our own and I just feel so much for the fella. Deserves every success and only him winning the CL with us solves it. If not to be he'll go and that Bayern Munich talk will get louder.

The whole Spursy thing is a curse that seems to transfer to international level. Gutted.

What's Southgate done wrong here? People thought we were going to lose tonight prior to the tournament anyway and probably though France would run riot, which they haven't. Yes we lost, but we could easily have won.
Oh ffs. Its not a matter of doing anything overly wrong. It's an issue of not doing anything outstandingly right. What big match have England won under Southgate that they weren't expected to? Just how long in the job is he supposed to get off the back of these par performances before someone else gets a go? If he'd done an Alf Ramsey I'd get it, but every added 2-4 years is a huge swathe of time in football terms.

Southgate's done better than fine, but he had the fortune of coming into the job on the cusp of an exceptional generation of talent, such as wasn't available to previous coaches, along with quite favourable draws (prior to this tournament) and basically home advantage two years ago.

International football is not club football. There's a far smaller sample size upon which to judge performance. Give Gareth the benefit of the doubt sure, I'm not saying he's at enormously at fault, but here goes another few years if we stick with him. Pretty much an entire generation of talent was used up on par performances during the Eriksson years. Is Southgate to have the same luxury before someone else gets a go?

International management should be treated somewhat akin to political cycles imo. 2-4 year terms, to be extended only in the event of exceptional achievement (relative to circumstances and squad strength, Southgates accomplishments have not met that standard imo). We needn't always be waiting for a non-qualification or group stage knock out before freshening things up

The ref was definitely not fine.. He was up there with the Argentina v Netherlands ref for worst officiating of the tournament so far.

not even close. That ref lost handle of the game and it descended into 15 yellows. This was nothing in comparison, people are just angry the game didn't go there way which is understandable

Where I'm sure the VAR decision was that it happened outside the box so they couldn't intervene.
Yes I think that's the only thing it could be. There was no doubt about the foul, but they'll have had an angle along the edge of the box and the initial contact must have been outsidea nd so no pen, and no free kick because VAR cannot intervene and award a foul outside the box - therefore, play on.

4 - No player has scored more penalties in World Cup history than Harry Kane, with tonight his fourth goal from the spot in the competition (exc. shootouts). Reliable.

Kane should also be remembered for this. Always taking responsibility.

Indeed. You can only miss a penalty if you step up to take it. Harry puts the expectations of the country on his shoulders constantly, and always does his absolute best. Anyone who doesn't admire that is a total bellend.

I can't work out if Harry is shit because he's a penalty merchant, or because he misses pens. the knuckle draggers on social media have got me confused ?‍♂️

Positive note is Harry gets back a week earlier than he would have

Physically yeah

Mentally? nah - I think this is gonna hurt for a very long time. Regret is a killer - what if I did this, or did that.

To be honest, if you want anyone to come back to and give you that kind of 'comfort' it will be Conte (and Poch actually but Conte too)

Yea definitely worry about how much that will take out of Kane mentally.

Hopefully he will really knuckle down and try and fire us to glory now no opportunity with England for 2 years.
