ENIC and Levy are like the player who makes a heroic tackle in his own penalty box, and with mesmerising skill and pace runs the whole length of the field beating 10 players, before shimmying the goalie, leaving him flat on his arse (Hoddle-eque) only to blaze over the bar from 4 yards with the goal wide open

I keep hearing we can't get players in until we get players out . Well my thought is they must bite the bullit to get players out they want top dollar for players that are well past their best or clearly not good enough . The players we want are usually the ones in demand but we always lowball .For goodness sake give Jose a fighting chance for fourth place and the FA cup . Take a bit less and get rid especially the perceived bad apples Rose and Eriksen also Wanyama and Dier are no were near worth what they were two years ago .
Levy must be really constipated because I seem to say "shit or get off the pan " every window and every window almost zilch nothing nobody nil not a new signing in sight .I am in despair because I know what's coming or what's not coming .
I really hope I am wrong but I won't be holding my breath .

People keep saying this like the only reason we haven't sold is because asks for too much money.

We have accepted bids for Rose and Wanyama in the past. Jose wanted Dier at Utd, who is to say the reason we still have him is because our manager thinks there is still a player in there.

I have no doubt at all that Levy would love to get something for Eriksen rather than nothing.

We are adults, we really need to stop dumbing everything down to such basic levels.

We are in position where its down to basics IE get the players out not wanted then invest with a few we need .
I am only posting the question "why is it not happening " My days of blindly following ENIC and Levy are over .
You should really invest at a time of strength a la Liverpool .
We are now in a position where we are trying to strengthen from a weak position .
When Poch was flying there was three windows we could or should have invested when in the upward groove .
But three windows passed until we are now in a downward mode and it still would not surprise me if we signed zilch. If we had invested at the Height of Poch's tenure I am sure we would not be struggling as we are and we would safely be in a top four position .
You can give all the reasons why players are not moved on or signed but for things to happen there must be a will to make these things happen and the will is something lacking with ENIC. Even allowing for all the good they have done they cannot Brin themselves to go that extra inch . it can be pointed out the £670 mill loan but in the club has but in the scheme of things the difference between 670 and 800 is not vast regarding the loan . But having Fernandes and Dybala is vast for us at the moment as I say with the will .

But you specifically said let’s get rid of Rose, Wanyama and Eriksen and accept a bit less.

It’s strange that you don’t want people to debate the words you say.

You can debate as long as you like I am only pointing out my stance if others have a different opinion that's fine as we are all allowed to have a view I am not saying that what I put up as my stance is the correct view only that it is my view .
I am always open to be debate and prepared to take it on the chin if proven wrong . If anybody wants to debate then that is why I come on this site to be proven right or wrong or find a middle ground .

Outside of we need to sell our players for peanuts and pay high for our targets I am not sure what your point is.

That's fair enough. That's all you can ask for from everyone really.

my view is that for a club of our size and revenue we are massively underfunded regards transfers .
My point about wanting some players gone is valid but the problem is you can't buy as you have to make space in your 25 man squad if you hold on to players because you cannot get the fee you want you will never improve your squad or team .
I am not saying give players a free transfer to make room for incomings I am saying be realistic in the fee you ask for.
I am saying bite the bullit take a bit less than you want to push transfers over the line .
Teams like Leicester and Wolves can move on unwanted players and thus allow room for the new talent they have purchased.
If you are happy with our transfer policy that's fine its your view and stick with it but I am not satisfied and feel somewhat let down .
As I say Leicester and Wolves had the will to make things happen I think there is not the will to make things happen and things just drift to mediocracy if you stay still in the transfer market you in essence go backwards because this with the will to make things happen will overtake you.

I don’t think anyone has said a single thing about not wanting to sell our players.

Your point seems to be “we need to sell all our unwanted players and then buy quality ones.”

Not a single person would disagree with that.

You have once again brought up accepting lower bids but this ignores the fact that we have accepted bids for players who then haven’t left. This suggests that our problem is not simply about agreeing a fee.

We broadly agree on what we want to happen but I think your solutions are simplistic.

Let me make it simple " I am not happy with the level of investment regards ENIC " if we can't move on what for a better way of phrasing is "the deadwood " we are going nowhere and will stagnate .
As I have repeated time and time again "where there is a will there is a way " for all of Levy and Enic have done good for whatever reason they are in my view holding the club back . You are saying " there are reasons these players will not move on " well all I can say show some forethought make it happen as top clubs do have the will to make it happen surely its not insurmountable .
Where there is THE WILL there is a way .

Completely agree. The only thing we need to succeed is will.

It’s why despite being an atheist I have given my life to religion as faith is all I require.

This deadwood you allude to that we're not shifting.

Let's say we once fancied them, offered them a lucrative package to join Spurs, but they didn't recapture past form or became a liability through injury.

Do you think this 'deadwood' is just going to walk away to appease Spurs if they're offered far inferior wages. Of course not, some might, some won't.

So many variables, not as simple as get rid.

Of course we could help fund wages to new club, sell at a reduced fee. But this is far from an ideal, sustainable business model.

But if we have will then we don’t need to consider reality.

Oh well lets not try lets stay as we are. oh wait a minute .
Obviously I am the only one that thinks if the club really wanted to we could move on and be a real powerhouse I can only apologise for thinking the higher management could and should do more to move the club on .

You've nothing to apologise for. In fact, I'm of the thinking plenty of fellow posters follow your train of thought that more could've been done regarding player recruitment at times. I do. (y)

I think it's just that your formula for improvement regarding incoming and outgoing players seems somewhat too simplistic in comparison to what might be deemed realistic. ;)
