Simple solution is to use their money against them.

Set up programs where for every million QSI put into the club, x amount is donated by fans/other entities to a cause that fights against the sort of things these guys are known for. Every league point won, fans volunteer an hour of their time at their local human rights watch office/freedom of the press fundraiser/etc. Every goal scored by the marquee signing, 10 000 flyers are distributed with more info.

If you can't beat 'em - let them beat themselves.
Yeah good luck with that. People like to have a moan on social media and forums because its so simple and takes a few seconds...I would suggest that a minuscule minority actually do anything constructive for these causes.

Not sure about the Qatar links myself but i am more annoyed about the reporting that Levy is deliberately withholding the release of tax statements. Reports are that its to hide the war chest from fans but i am (maybe naively) hoping its more to hide how much we have to spend from clubs we are interested in buying from............

Genuine reports, or angry murmurings on Twitter? (genuine question, not being sarky)

I was thinking the same thing so out of interest I did a (very quick) google............Their money and ownership/investment is literally everywhere, from property in almost every big city and town in England (even fucking Runcorn) to Barclays bank, Sainsburys and Harrods. Use Heathrow airport and you're a customer. If you live in an area serviced by Severn Trent Water, there they are. It's almost impossible not to participate.

That's it, I'm pulling out of my pending house purchase in Runcorn.

More on Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s meeting with Daniel Levy last week. Sources say it was to discuss “possible investment” and there was no ECA-aspect to it at all. Al-Khelaifi, who was in London, was solely representing QSI.

Can someone more enlightened tell me what the above bit means? Thanks!

I'm not saying I'm necesarily in favour of it, but one thing it's done is that it's upset the Spammers, there's a news article that suggests it could be a major blow for them, as they were hoping for investment from Qatar with their buy out clause expiring in March 2023....

See below.

Hmm he’s really not backing down is he? Makes me think perhaps there is something to it.

I wonder if they will look at taking ~20% equity and naming rights for the stadium as part of the package.

This would provide them with equity and a decent say over the direction of the club whilst also giving them immediate exposure with our high profile, multipurpose stadium.

To clarify I don’t want sportswashing owners or to be involved with them, I’m just analysing the situation.

The European Club Association is the sole, independent body directly representing football clubs at European level. Since its creation in 2008, ECA, the 'voice of the clubs', has positioned itself as an important and respected stakeholder in the international football landscape.

European Club Association. Levy is the representative for the PL. Nasser is the chairman of the organization.

ECA i believe stands for the European Club Association? which Al-Khelaifi is the chair of, so as part of that role he regularly meets with owners and CEOs etc - basically just clarifying that the meeting wasnt part of his role with the ECA, but on behalf of qatar's sports investment

Ben could very well have been fed that ITK by the club about there being nothing in it. TBH im still very skeptical anything will happen here and if it were to happen it would probably take a good while before it did. Im also still not sure how, if at all, it will benefit us on pitch which is what most fans who are in favour of this seem to be hoping it will.

He isn't backing down on this. Something is happening. Says Levy has been to Qatar and equity would be less than 30% so not full take over if it was to happen and that multiple sources have confirmed discussions.

If Levy and the other execs like Todd Kline hadn’t been in Qatar for the World Cup then they wouldnt have been doing their job right. Probably where this was originally cooked up I would think.

Interesting it is Levy meeting up. Either selling his share possibly or acting on behalf of Lewis?

Ben Jacobs got quite a bit from the American side/Raine during the Chelsea take over so I wonder if that is where this has come from. Raine are looking for investment for Man Utd now.

You mean the accounts? They don’t have to be filed until June officially. The accounting period is until the end of that month so they have until then to file them with Companies House.

Not about QSI but a question about investment more generally: How does it actually work? Would the investor be purchasing some of ENIC's shares? If so, how would that help the club as opposed to just helping ENIC? On the other hand if the money goes into the club and not ENIC then does that mean new shares are actually being created rather than ENIC's shares simply being purchased?

he is saying ‘’multiple sources’’ that obviously indicates quite clearly there is some deal going on but whether it’s a stake in the club or just even naming rights it’s all a bit clear as mud right now.

however considering the way football is going and how ENIC model is perhaps out of date now this makes sense from a competitive point of view if that is the goal.

They obviously kept this pretty locked down. Little ITK and even ‘’BEN’’ saying nothing happening but someone like Ben Jacobs wouldn’t be adamant like this without reason. It sort of feels like a story that will go quiet for months then one morning we wake up to a big story.

Yeah, i wasnt sure how accounting periods work in the UK. All seems a bit fishy, but again could just be a media beat up. All i all though, not that happy with how ENIC are going atm.

Or not. All we know is that there’s been discussions. Who’s shares they’d be buying is the interesting point though isn’t it?

30% is approximately Levy’s ownership.

The structure of Lewis’s ownership has changed, maybe they are looking getting some money out, although the report said Levy and not the trustees. Although they could have been there, who knows.
