Ok mate. I wish I could watch him play and convince myself of that as well but maybe I haven’t suffered enough blows to the head.
you said he cant pass but he had a higher pass completion percentage t
Dier is widely slated universally for starting for England, and think most would agree he should be low on the list of cb for England (top of my head Stones, Maguire, Dunk, Webster, Coady, Gomez, Tarkowski, Mee, Mings are better), and in addition not sure caps for England are always a true indicator of a player, Phil Jones has 27 ffs
slated by whom? not by the professionals who make the selections.

He's just shit, makes the other defenders uncomfortable too, I'm sure Sanchez would have more confidence if he didn't have to play alongside this idiot.
Yeah Sanchez's best season for us was alongside Vertonghen.

Odd that........not

That's pushing it, the Sanchez I've seen this season is a complete hologram.

I’d agree this season Sanchez has been terrible this season but he looks shot of confidence. If he’d been offered the same game time and forgiveness for his errors that Dier gets from Jose I’m sure we’d see a better player. Diers best form at CB is miles off what Sanchez was performing at in his first season for us.

Dier made 6 blocks yesterday, I'd be surprised if Sanchez made even half of them.

I don't think Dier is anything special but he doesn't hide.

a Mourinho favourite. for those of us hoping to never see him as a starting centre back for this club again, he will be the last of our defenders to be replaced. we’re stuck with him for the foreseeable.
Based on what exactly? He's been dropped a plenty of late. Honestly some of you will just make up any old shit to fit the narrative

After a very good first ten matches of the season, he’s been getting worse and worse since then and looks very poor now. Hopefully it turns around but I’m not sure it will.

Copy and paste into the Son, Sissoko, Aurier, and, to a lesser extent, Højbjerg threads...

He was poor last night, but still made a lot of blocks, he’s one of the players that clearly cares. The problem is he’s completely brain dead, he’s always been more than capable of making at least one game changing error per game, that penalty last night may have been the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen him do though.

Its weird, the last few weeks i find myself thinking we might be bad now but remember this fixture last year. Brighton away, we cant possibly play any worse than we did there last season and yet we go and produce just the same. Last night i had flashbacks of Gazzaniga kung fu kick that almost took Willians head off and thought at least we wont do anything as stupid this time............. Step right up Eric Dier.

it's not 'making up any old shit', it's called my opinion. you're welcome to disagree.

Is he one of the ones likely to kick up a fuss at being dropped tho? Another one banging on Levy's door demanding answers can't be good for José, surely?

If only he used his left leg!

It is quite amusing that he decided the time to take responsibility for clearing the ball is when tangled on the floor with an attacker going nowhere, not last week where he let a scuffed cross past him because he wanted Hugo to deal with it.

He has good qualities but just isn't a natural CB.

When you refer to “good qualities” you must mean as a son-in- law because if he’s not a natural CB, he certainly ain’t a natural GK, MF or CF....
