Not for me. Domestic Leagues would have a far smaller carbon footprint for starters and we do need to be responsible about environmental issues. I don't see what's wrong with it as is, and I certainly don't remember a time when Italy, Spain and Germany had all of the money and won all of the big tournaments and gave a toss about England. Let them take their turn down the bottom of the pile for a change.

Which clubs are going to relinquish their place in their domestic 1st Division to play in the 3rd or 4th division of this new league? What would be in it for, say, Braga, or Royal Antwerp? Spending their season playing in Poland, or Slovenia they're going to be almost anonymous to anyone except their own fans. Would Marseille rather spend each year trying to pip PSG to the French title or become the European Norwich, forever yo-yoing between Super League 1 and 2?

I'm going down the Winchester until this all blows over.
They will be banking on clubs still being able to play in their domestic leagues, with this new competitions replacing UEFAs competitions for them.
Would the Portuguese league/other teams be able to survive without Benfica, Sporting, Porto, Braga ?
Same with Ajax. PSV, Feyenoord
Shakhtar, Dinamo ?
Marseille, Lyon, Monaco, Nice (now Ineos are there) etc.
You could see 10 Italian and 10 Spanish teams in it, what about Celtic and Rangers, I wouldn’t rule them out, or some of the German clubs (the first edition had 3 unnamed teams which would have made 15 with the Der Spiegel leaks showing they were Bayern, Dortmund and PSG).
If you take the top teams out of the continental European Leagues they would likely be on verge of collapsing as the money they could command would drop massively.

Last time round it was in effect 12 clubs from 3 countries with no pyramid system, if they have support from 60 of the biggest clubs across a dozen or more countries it could have a better chance than before, still slim, but better

I think the biggest problem with the original idea was that it was a certain set of clubs with no relegation/promotion. I'm open minded if more clubs can join and go up/down.

The UEFA comps at the moment aren't anything special, even the Champions League has become stale (for me at least), so I wouldn't be completely against it if the format was right.
Yes agree, although I imagine the revised version will stacked in certain clubs favour, maybe they'll get bigger slice of the pie as 'founders' or 'historical clubs' then the relegation limited i.e. throw Real Madrid/Juve in the top league of 20 teams with a big chunk of finance each year and only 2 getting relegated, their chances of staying there forever are probably quite high. Interesting to see how this plays out though

From a Sky Sports article no mention of us, ban Sky now..

Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol:

"I would say the chances of it happening are somewhere between slim and none. To have a European Super League that anyone is ever going to watch, you're going to need to have English clubs in it like Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea.

At present teams in uefa competitions have 6 league games then onto knockout games.
its ok to be guaranteed 14 games but if you are mid table after say 8 games , with no chance of promotion ,there are going to be a lot of dead games and not many people interested in watching them .
Bruges v Dinamo Zagreb….I look forward to it.!!!!!
as it stands the viewing figures for European games are not great. CL games viewing figures have dropped in last couple of seasons. They weren’t that good to start with.
if there is no jeopardy in the games people will soon lose interest.

If Madrid, Barca , Juve etc weren't so greedy and short sighted the Premier league wouldn't have all the money, I fully blame them for this

Sure we have Man city and Chelsea but they're not the reason for English dominance. No I believe the key is splitting the money fairly to create a league full of stars and make it the most marketable in the world.

Whilst in Europe these greedy super clubs hover up all the TV money so they're facing teams week in and week out full of unknown players in crumbling small stadiums that look visually unappealing to the TV viewer.

They can create a Europe wide league if they want but the sheer unashamed greed of the so called super clubs will likely mean it turns out to be a bigger version of what they already have.

Facts, I haven't watched a single game in any other league for eons. There's zero appeal for me. The EPL is just way more interesting. There's drama and upsets. There's intrigue. It's like WWE. It's not just about what happens on the pitch but off it too. Even during the off season it's interesting to follow what the clubs are doing in the market. There are so many interesting shows around the league as well.

It's just a great product.

Why would it work? It’s not a Super league, it would be a European league to compete with the Prem and maybe the Germans….. What’s the difference between this and the International nations league… It has little hope as the prem would not loose its appeal or money…. At best it would be the prem and the euro league and the then the best prem teams will play the best euro team….. I am pretty sure it doesnt beat each country has their own league then they compete in a completion where the best groups competes against the best in euro…. It’s a fail From the start….unless the UAE invest and buy all the best players and managers and do it like what is happening in golf…. But they wont because they are just buying prem teams….. much more grand rather than buy an Italian team that can’t fill a stadium….

Keep the prem. If Italy/Spain/Whoever else need to band together because their leagues have finally given up the ghost after being run only for a couple of historical clubs for decades then tough shit.

It would essentially make Europe into a two league zone though. The prem and this Island of misfit toys who squandered every natural advantage they had only a generation ago.

I think it could only make the prestige of the Prem even greater in time tbh.

I am not close to the story so barely know the format but already it sounds boring and dull. Sounds like, as others have said, a nations league shitty thing.

Ill tell you what it sounds like, it sounds like that international cup or whatever - arent we the holders? Didnt we beat juve in that? we finished top.

Hard to see what could possibly go wrong allowing teams to be in charge of the money side. They all seem so sensible and level headed

I’m probably misremembering but didn’t the last super league attempt fail because English teams backed out under overwhelming fan/media pressure…

Disaster. Game gone within next 5 years - it’s been given to the people who want to end promotion and relegation and kill the football pyramid
