Well that don't happen too often - a 0-0 that is.

Happy enough with that.

Our new superstar De-Fence which shuts out Everton:

Jonathan Woodgate (new arrival, and injured according to Sky Sports)

Pascal Chimbonda (about to be replaced by some Scottish guy)

Big Tom Huddlestone (Big Martin Jol refused to play him at CB)

Chris Gunter (played a total of 28 games for, um, Cardiff City)

And second half, Jamie O'Hara (a CM playing at LB)

Conclusion: Juande Ramos knows how to organize a team and get them playing for, and supporting, each other.

Woodgate has played 90 minutes and conceded 0 goals, an average concession rate of infinity minutes per goal.

Is this a record?

First 0-0 draw since Watford about 60-odd PL games ago, innit?

Happy with that. Only downer is the now 8 point gap between us and the Spammers...

While a point away at Everton is good, I am highly disappointed by the effort. It felt that, other than the last 10 minutes, we didn't come to play. We had few chances and just let them come at us in waves. And there seemed to be no tactical adjustments by Ramos to go for win.

We were lucky we didn't get burned by our lack of effort, because Everton didn't look good, just more up for it.

We play like that against United and last year's 4-0 will look like a good result.

Just looked at the squad profiles on the bbc site & noticed Woodgate already had 4 yellow cards this season in the prem whilst at Boro. Presumably suspended next game???

Yeah, that wasn't supposed to happen, it was supposed to be down to 3 points. Trust us to self destruct the season Liverpool decide to do the same.

Anyway, never mind. A good point earned from a good defensive display, we didn't offer much going forward tonight, although we finished the game stronger than them, could've had a late penalty but based on the first half a point is a good result.

Woodgate was excellent, very good debut, looking forward to seeing him and King play hopefully against Utd at the weekend.

It's that roping them together and having them trot up and down the pitch keeping a fixed distance until they get the idea (according to the Grauniad the other week, anyway). That was the old Gooner George trick.

Next, strawfoot, bobblefoot!

Hard to tell just listening to the radio, but it sounded as if the Hudd had a pretty good game and might actually be edging up to No. 3 CB. The one disadvantage is that we can't risk playing too high a line without Ledders. But it seems (touch wood) that we have a sorted-looking defence for the first time in a season-and-a-half.

suspension won't come into effect until after 7 days.

wow that was close - by my reckoning it'll be Derby - one more game and it would have been the final

seems like he had a great game - probably made a major contribution to us getting a point tonight - that's alreadythe fee started to pay back - as that point keeps us well clear of the drop zone

After his debut tonight, Woody & King for the final would be a real bonus!!
